Fairhope City Council is as dysfunctional as a square bowling ball. Led by Council President Jack Burrell who has been president for going on 7 years. The council has achieved little in the last year other than obstruct the Mayor’s office. It was more of the same at the last council meeting when it came to light that not one of the council has discussed any issues related to the budget in the last two weeks, with the Mayor, as they said they would.
Senate candidate, and BP contractor, Trip Pittman could not get the oil off him. He was rejected by his constituents and barely got 7% of the vote. Many in Baldwin County predicted he would receive less than 10%, they were right.
Baldwin County has now voted out 2 of the three most corrupt politicians in the county. Tim Kant and his partner in BP scam Trip Pittman are history. Jack Burrell, Pittman’s Bible study partner will be next.
First let me announce that no longer will the Ripp Report accept comments from Jester 666 and the Truth teller, most likely one in the same. In Fairhope, “come fly with me” Jack Burrell is facing ethics complaints as well as Fairhope Airport Authority board member Ray Hix, Fairhope Municipal Judge Snedeker’s partner. The airport authority authorized hiring an attorney to investigate those who filed the complaint. The city council has turned a blind eye to any facts or ethical violations refusing to conduct any internal investigation, despite compelling evidence of wrong doing. Instead the council members have issued false statements, “The ethics commission complaints against Airport board members have been ruled baseless.
Jack, come fly with me, has more passengers. The Courier, editor “Chucky Cheese” is working hard for free flights. He has signed on with the pilot, “come fly with me” Jack to cover the most mundane of articles that amounts to cut and paste. The local AM station, it is hard to find, has also signed on to allow Jack all the time he needs to talk about anything but the airport.

Fairhope politics has taken on a coup mentality. Mayor Wilson upset the apple cart of two political groups: Tim Kant followers, and Jack Burrell and his cronies, both supported by Catalyst. Kant followers have fallen off in recent years and Mr Burrell was assured by Kant he would be the next mayor, along with two others. Jack hedged his position by playing both sides to his benefit however mayor Wilson winning was not in the cards.
In 2012 the Baldwin County Commission convinced itself that Baldwin County needed to spend 32 Million dollars on 2300 usable acres called the Mega site.

The property remains vacant with no serious buyers, as far as we know. County commissioners sold the project to sleeping citizens and the county employees ended up helping to pay the 32 million dollar price tag.
Fairhope City Council has shifted from a rude, loud, and bulling approached, that backfired on them, to a passive aggressive approach when addressing the mayor. The ultimate goal is to prevent her from doing her job and opposing any of her goals. The masked condescending and sarcastic comments remain along with the disrespect.
