DIRTY HANDS

When it comes to dirty hands, Baldwin County cannot be beat. Our new State Senator the TAX MAN, Elliott, hands are as dirty as they can get. The lottery and taxes Elliott supports does nothing for education. The “Education” Lottery has been dissolved into a lottery to pay past debts of the State, as far back as 2013. Be sure to read the comments for the article below.

Fairhope was proud in March of 2017 to welcome 3 highly qualified people to a new administration. The Fairhope Catalyst Council was not happy with the Mayor’s choices and set out to oppose them, obstruct them and generally not support them.

Fairhope has now lost two, of the three original staff hired. The Council did everything possible to discourage the new hires. First the council set it sights on the female of the three, Sherry- Lea Bloodworth Botop. The Council has a well established reputation for bulling women. Sherry-Lea relocated to Fairhope for the position and immediately the council moved to de-fund her position. Fairhope is the loser in her departure and the Fairhope Catalyst Council has dirty hands in her resigning.

Mayor Karin Wilson of Fairhope, Alabama

April 28 at 5:00 PM ·

The City of Fairhope is proud to support Sherry-Lea Bloodworth Botop, the current Economic and Community Development Director, in her transition to Deputy Director of Mobile Bay National Estuary Program (MBNEP).

Since Sherry-Lea started in early 2017, her commitment to building a resilient community using her incredible experience in philanthropic leadership will have long-lasting positive impacts on our City.

In her position at the MBNEP, she will work on the implementation of restoration and protection efforts laid out in the Comprehensive Conservation and Management Plan.

“I have enjoyed working at the City of Fairhope and playing a role in protecting this special city. In my new position, I look forward to continuing that relationship in a different way starting with work on the health of Fly Creek” said Bloodworth Botop, “The creek plays a significant role in the water quality of the Mobile Bay which plays a central role in our future economic and environmental prosperity.”

I look forward to working with Sherry-Lea in partnership with MBNEP. She is one of the most positive, collaborative people I’ve ever worked with.

One sentence in Sherry Lea’s comment’s sticks out.“The health of Fly Creek plays a significant role in the water quality of the Mobile Bay which plays a central role in our future economic and environmental prosperity.” The Council may not be rid of Sherry Lea yet. Do not forget the Council also had dirty hands with the approval of Fly Creek Apartments and the traffic congestion at highway 98 and Parker Road.

Just last month Wayne Dyess, Fairhope’s planning director, resigned. Did the Fairhope Council try to save either position? Did the council try and talk Wayne and Sherry-lea into staying? Hell No ! The Council’s hands are as dirty as they can be.

Council President Burrell: “He was a great employee and has provided great input concerning numerous planning projects, and was instrumental in implementing several new ordinances which will help the city in the long run.”

If Council President Burrell felt so passionately about Mr Dyass, why did he not try his damnedest to get him stay? Again Fairhope loses and the Council’s hands are dirty.

One Man standing from the three, Operations Director Richard Peterson. Mr Peterson now has a target on his back. The Catalyst Council would love to dirty their hands one more time before the 2020 elections, by forcing Peterson out. Fairhope again will be the loser and Catalyst the winner.

The dirty hands council had plenty of help from the Courier and former editor Chuckee Cheeze.

Chuckee takes dictation from the dirty hands of Baldwin County. Chuckee is know for biased fictional articles that are political hit pieces. His coverage of Fairhope made the flowers wilt.

I hear Burrell is considering running for congress. I hope he does. Good riddance!

I heard he is not anymore when everyone started laughing at the prospect People don’t really pay attention to local politics, which is why people like him get in office. Media would have a field day with his childish ways.

He is only in politics because it strokes his ego.

Maybe he can get back to writing his BALDWIN INSIDER blog again

    • Observe her | May 6, 2019 at 10:27 am |

      I had heard that

I sure miss Cliff writing his “Baldwin Insider” blog. His writing style, though biased for the builders and the Catalyst Group, was pithy and humorous.
I think his BEST blog was about comparing the Baldwin County municipalities to SEC teams – very clever and insightful.
I think that he could have been more fair if only he enabled his comments at the end of each of his blogs.
He just suddenly stopped after his article about the Judge of Probate race.

        • Anonymous | May 7, 2019 at 1:08 pm |

Not really a fan of Baldwin Insider, but the comments were enabled. He or she did take a while to approve them. I commented some criticism a couple times and they eventually showed up. I really don’t believe that was Cliff writing the blog. I don’t know him personally, but I imagine he has to spend a good amount of time in front of a computer. I find it hard to believe that he wouldn’t figure out how to change the default theme that came with his WordPress account. Most of the placeholder text that is present when you first start a blog. If you click the about page, it has the default image and the text

“This is an example of an about page. Unlike posts, pages are better suited for more timeless content that you want to be easily accessible, like your About or Contact information. Click the Edit link to make changes to this page or add another page.”

I find it hard to believe a journalist would not want or know how to remove that. It would be much more likely to be someone unfamiliar with computers.

Also, the blog really dropped off right around the time Karin fired the first couple of people. I forget their names. I suspect it was one of them or a friend.

          • Spanish Fort Oracle | May 8, 2019 at 12:02 am |

Well I remember a certain person being at events then including the comments in the Baldwin Insider. When that blog was being written I tried to connect dots to figure out who was writing that blog. Cliff would be at an event and then it would appear in the Baldwin Insider. I can remember three events that follow this deductive reasoning.
It had to be a Catalyst-affiliated person or persons. At the same time Haygood was running afoul of Catalyst, then Baldwin Insider started to disparage him calling him “Supreme Leader Haygood” and comparing him to Vanderbilt in the SEC.
Also remember his old account was shut down and he had to hurriedly start a WordPress platform quickly which could explain the omission of removing placeholder text.
I can not argue with you because I cannot be be sure either way.
While I did not agree with his reasoning I did like his clever writing. If I would come face to face with whoever it was I would want to shake him then shake his hand
Thank you for replying to my earlier conjecture and bringing your good points to my attention

            • Anonymous | May 8, 2019 at 1:16 am |

Good point. I’m not arguing but here’s some more conjecture. I agree it is most likely a Catalyst affiliated person. Cliff appears to me to like the spotlight and enjoys being heard. I’ve never met him and I haven’t been to any events, so I haven’t gauged his personality in person. While I do see the possibility that he wanted an outlet for his more controversial thoughts and anonymity allows more than a newspaper could stomach an employee openly publishing those opinions, I have a few doubts. For the placeholder text, it was there for quite an extended period of time that they were actively blogging. But let’s say he didn’t care about that. Why did he stop? If it’s an outlet he needed, what has changed? The blog did not immediately stop when the employees were fired, but I did notice the topics turned quite a bit more general, eventually stopping. As if the source of information was no longer there. I don’t have time at the moment to check, but I will sometime soon, I’ll bet the change to general topics occurred at the same time as the firings. I don’t believe the fired employee, whichever one it was, was the writer. But I do believe they were the source. Again, I haven’t been to any events, so I don’t know. I’ve watched some video streams. I’m not aware, but do you know everyone present at these events? I think someone who would hide behind a website would likely not be of a personality to stand out in the crowd. I’m pretty certain Cliff knows who it is as do other Catalyst affiliated people.

I found something pretty interesting. Look at this website.

                http://www.utpsyc.org/synch/

It analyzes two texts and tells you the chances that it is the same author.

I took this article, titled To Grover, From Coastal Alabama
                https://thebaldwininsider.wordpress.com/

                And his farewell article,
                https://www.gulfcoastnewstoday.com/stories/a-farewell-of-sorts,75752?

Who knows how effective the analysis is. But this was the result.

                Your LSM score is 0.83

Compared to other emails that we have analyzed, your LSM score is slightly above average To give you an idea, most LSM scores for emails range between .75 and .95, with an average around .84. The more that the two people are paying attention to each other in their interaction, the higher the LSM.

It goes on to say the analysis is experimental. So take that into account. If anyone has some time on their hands, try more of his articles against the blog posts.

Elliott is the worst kind of political animal. Bought and paid for.
    Liar.
    Manipulator.
    Fake Christian.

  5. Cranston Cooper | May 5, 2019 at 10:23 am |

Elliott thinks he has everyone fooled…not so fast baldy!!!

  6. Anonymous | May 5, 2019 at 9:42 pm |

I am confused. One of your articles stated that Botop’s position was defunded as soon as she moved here. Does that mean that she has never been paid and that is why she left? Can you be more transparent as to what actually happened here? I remember when she was first hired and we were all a bit skeptical as to why she drew such a large salary, but I think that she has truly delivered to the City. The City Council operates in secrecy (IMHO).

  7. Amy Klein | May 6, 2019 at 10:26 am |

Elliot and his catalyst pals want u dumb and pliable citizenry. One incapable of rational thought. One who will vote like lemmings every four years foe the Christian candidate abobe all else thru straight jacket voting!!!

  8. My neighbor in the f and n district is a retired biologist. He has been testing the bay water on a weekly basis since January. He said the bay is filthy and has raw sewage levels unbecoming of a modern American city. He says it is uncivilized and nearing epidemic levels if someone gets a flesh earing bacterium. Meanwhile Burrell is building more neighborhoods.

What they are doing is criminal. Would the EPA do anything if we alerted them?

      • Georgia Orwell | May 6, 2019 at 9:08 pm |

Not under the Trump administration. He has been dismantling the EPA from his first day when he hired the king of polluters, Scott Pruitt (long since gone due to media scrutiny of his grift and fraud). What we need here is a fair media with journalists, not Burrell Bloggers.

        • No need outlets | May 7, 2019 at 8:16 am |

You are correct about the lack of local journalists. Just look at it he northwest corner of Pollard and County Road 64 at that roundabout. All those apartments going in on that two lane road and I cannot find a SINGLE news article covering that catastrophe that is going to happen
The Mobile Register is too busy running Shoe Station ads and Coast Media is too busy running puff pieces.

          • Georgia Orwell | May 7, 2019 at 9:58 pm |

It is disgusting. How do we get any independent media to investigate and report on the rape of Baldwin County by our own representatives? Other than 2 or 3 blogs, it appears that ‘media’ is compensated for burying the truth.

            • Anonymous | May 8, 2019 at 12:11 am |

The media is compensated because it runs ads and no longer makes money on real journalism. So you get crime stories, pictures of school activities, superficial lifestyle pieces
None of the media (Mobile Register and Gulf Coast Media) would covet a story about the rape of Baldwin. The Fairhope Times mainly covers plantings on city streets.
The Lagniappe will run some, but it had to go and cover concerts.
So that leaves Ripp to actually connect the dots.
              I would bet two things:
              1. He had more page views than Gulf Coast Media and,
              2. The two former “news outlets” wonder why Ripp has such a high page view rating

  9. I am so fricking disgusted!! My son is eight. We moved here for the schools. Today I hear the middle school is so overcrowded they need 25 portable building!!
Fairhope is a white trash city!!

    Run by rednecks!
    The city council is shitty!!

    • Fairhope Schools | May 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm |

So you moved here for the schools? HA! So did just about everybody else!
That’s what happens when the parents who take their kids to the ball fields, chat with the local politicians, think they are so great, and elect them to office.
Next time get really involved with what is happening in town. There is more than the church and the ball fields.
Catalyst is so imbedded in the churches (“Christian Conservative” – gag) and the city ball leagues (“Oh wow, this man is a Christian and he is one of us”) that they swoon the people into voting for them then they go to work for the same people that are crowding you out.
      The joke is on you…

    • To ForKids - and more Kids and More Kids | May 8, 2019 at 2:02 pm |

You say the council is shitty? Well did you vote for them?

      • Francis Ripp | May 8, 2019 at 8:19 pm |

Yes I did vote for them however I did not know they were lying about Catalyst and their connection. This is the worst council Fairhope has had in the last 25 years. To date they have not accomplished anything.
