HOLES

Fairhope has a fascination for holes. They approved digging a hole for a strip center to accommodate a Publix. That venture has been controversial ever since and spawned several lawsuits. The developers now want to locate apartments over the already damaged Fly Creek over the objections of the vast majority of Fairhope citizens.

Fairhope soccer fields required months of grading and an estimated 1.5 million dollars to fill in one end of the property to seek a level grade. The total price tag for the complex is still not really known, somewhere between 5 and 6 million dollars.

Currently, the Fairhope City Council is digging a hole that affects all of Fairhope. They are obstructing the mayor from doing her job while accomplishing nothing themselves, other than being obstructionist. The council has the city in a hole they dug with shovels provided by Burrell and Boone.

The council has not discussed any of the past deeds of the last administration and passes the buck to the ethics commission or other authorities to investigate city business, conflicts of interest, and corruption or blames the mayor for bringing it up.

Councilmen Brown ran for office because he was upset about the soccer fields and how they were developed. However, no-one has yet looked closely as to who the contractors and sub contractors were.

The purchase of the property was suspicious at the time of purchase. No audit, no questions, no memory! If the mayor brings it up, you can be sure they will look the other way and blame her.

Everyone of the present council has stated that the mayor is trying to go to fast. That she is too aggressive to implement change. The council has done nothing and five men cannot keep up with one woman mayor who wants to do her job. The council has taken on the defense of fired and disgruntled employees, all of which are obstructing city business, while they criticize the woman the mayor hired.

How damn stupid does all this sound? Well, I will tell ya one more thing that is even more stupid. The GOB strategy, supported and implemented by Burrell and Boone, is to take down the mayor, remove her from office, and reinstate any employees who have been fired or replaced by Mayor Wilson. They think the only way for them to get out of trouble is to get rid of the mayor.

This Beavis and Butthead plan could only be dreamed up by GUILTY people and this city council has yet to accomplish anything, except dig another hole in Fairhope.

Next election they will be in the hole, looking up.

I think that a lot of people may have agreed with you a few months ago; however, now that we have experienced the Mayor’s new hires with their lack of education and relevant experience, most people seem happy that the Council is putting the brakes on her. She could have accomplished a lot but I think that she threw away the opportunity by ignoring the voters and by giving high paying jobs to her friends.
I voted for her and I am still happy that Kant is gone, but I feel cheated by Mayor Wilson……I expected integrity and didn’t get it. Just another politician with empty promises…..maybe in 2020 we can get an honest Mayor who cares about Fairhope…….or maybe sooner if Wilson is forced to resign.

    • Anonymous | June 9, 2017 at 11:12 pm |

Sherry Sullivan, you have a new job. Please move on.

      • Anonymous | June 10, 2017 at 9:10 pm |

Sherry did not post this. I am happy that she has a new job; why is she suing the taxpayers of Fairhope? Why can’t we get anyone with any integrity to work for the city or run for office?

    • Come on Sherry. You and the gals move on! If the Pope came in as the New Mayor of Fairhope. Darn, that’s scary. Think of all the snakes that would have to sliver away. He would have the same authority to remove or replace anyone working directly under his new administration. That’s what so many people cannot understand and that’s why the Good ole boys GOB of the council are screaming at the top of their lungs about how terrible the Mayor is doing her job. Well. She wasn’t given an ounce of support and with all the lies the entire council have made publicly! They have to throw the crap against the wall and hope it sticks. The council lies at every meeting. Just come to one. They will lie to your face and you will be belittled. No matter if you have lived in Fairhope for 60 days or 60 years. They are destroying Fairhope and any little effort made by the New Mayor, the council flips upside down and blames her for everything. Not right. Take the blame for your mistakes and you might????? become stronger and hopefully will become more honest and wiser. The part that has been missing is the honesty that had no presence during the last election. No truer advise that this council could bend an ear towards. Promise you that when that one council person gets stung. There will be at least 2 that won’t be smart or fast enough without getting stung also.

      • This is exactly what the democrats are doing to Trump. Same stuff.

      • Anonymous | June 10, 2017 at 1:41 pm |

The entrenched powers that be will not let their power be taken without a fight.
Citizens need to realize this not about them but about who gets to spend their Money!!

And more importantly HOW and on WHAT!!

      • Anonymous | June 10, 2017 at 9:16 pm |

No one, in this Administration or the last, has clean hands. Kant was an idiot who was exploited by landholders who saw through and exploited his weaknesses. When Fairhope finally figured it out and voted him out, we were stupid enough to hire another mayor who is being exploited by a bunch of rabid losers with axes to grind and Desperados who will do anything/say anything to get a paycheck from their benefactor. Please, someone, talk to Mayor Wilson and make her see that she is making a fool of herself and our lovely city.

        • Countless people have offered advice to the mayor, and she’s not listening.

        • I would have to agree with you to a point. As a group we have tried to caution her (Fairhope Mayor) that there will be traps set and to be careful when to take the bait and when to leave it where it stands. Also, fire who you need to or want to, the day you get into office. She had plenty of time to at least have an iffy list. But, she would not listen and this is the first time I am going against the grain. We all trusted that she would not make so many stupid decisions in such a short time without taking the advice from trusted people in the community. She is and has put herself in the corner that she now sits in. The worst part of this is that the Citizens of Fairhope where coming together. The ole saying “If you don’t stand up for something! You will always fall down”. Having the record and terrible actions of the Council itself. It was simply a matter of waiting for the people to understand and to have fired (let go) some of those that we all knew where not doing anything or even still doing things under the direction of the former Mayor Tim Kant. Stevie Wonder could have simply seen this! Sorry, Not trying to be heartless or mean. But any advise was thrown to the side and that she (mayor) knew better. It will take a lot of work and support to make things better. A Mayor that won’t listen to those who know what to do to help and a group of city Councilmen that would beat their own mother’s if they disagreed with them and have lied before and to this very day since they have been elected. This is all the Truth!!! Prove me wrong! Please. Damn national guard needs to come in here and wipe all this crap clean. By the way. Figures don’t lie. Anyone that had ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE SOCCER FIELDS and did not report the wrong doing should be punished along with the contractors that screwed this city royally. Especially the city councilmen!!!!! Dang, even our Fairhope Middle School students figured out someone was doing something wrong!!! Let the Middle School Students run the city. It would be an great improvement!!! Another fact!!

          • Jester Triple-Six | June 13, 2017 at 11:03 pm |

To show just how naive this mayor is “….I will not agree to pay one dime of tax-payer money (or money from the Cityโ€™s insurance company) to anyone for this purpose…” If the insurance company wants to settle in an effort for limiting exposure then the insurance company will settle, should the mayor refuse to settle then the insurance company will stop defending the action and the city will be on its own! This statement alone shows just how inexperienced the mayor is! Duh, Duh!

The council has to agree to pay not the mayor! Hear ye, hear ye, the queen has arrived, now move along, go about your business! I have directed the attorneys to do this, I have directed the attorneys to do that, move along, go about your business now!

All you mayor supporters need to realize what you elected. AND now the council has to support in defending her because they want what is best for the city. Lord help her, please!

            Strike Fast! Strike Hard!

        • The only Holes in Fairhope is the hole in this mayor’s head!

    • Anonymous | June 10, 2017 at 8:55 am |

The voters gave the mayor three new council members (a majority) to help push forward a new agenda for the city. Rather than taking advantage and seeking consensus, she polarized the entire council, well, maybe with the exception of Conyers. The results have been disappointing. I hope she can change tactics.

      • Jester Triple-Six | June 10, 2017 at 9:43 pm |

This mayor is so out of touch with reality; she has the personality of rattlesnake and the intelligence of an amoeba! Fake to the core! Foolish! This council with the exception of Conyers is the only thing that has kept Fairhope on the tracks, and the carpetbaggers realize this the better. Those are jealous of the GOBs need to get over it, if the city so bad with the GOBs in officer then why do all the carpetbaggers want to move here? We built it, now live with it!

Strike Fast! Strike Hard! (find your own motto, do not steal this one, unless you have earned the right)

        • Strike Hard Struke | June 10, 2017 at 11:44 pm |

All the other asshole are dying to strike hard and strike fast. You have your own group. Don’t care what you say. The only right you have earned is to shut the F UP!

        • Strike Hard Strike/Jester Triple-six | June 10, 2017 at 11:53 pm |

You certainly have earned only one right. That is to shut your pie hole. Strike Hard Strike Fast. Who do you think you are? A peckerwood at best. Amoeba? Wow.

          • Jester Triple-Six | June 11, 2017 at 9:26 pm |

Have I struck a nerve with these dumb mayor supports? This mayor displays all the symptoms of a paranoid schizophrenic! It’s just a matter of time for all the investigations to be finished and she will be forced to resign! She lacks self-awareness, she no emotional intelligence and has forgotten that she is an ole country girl from Alabama, that was luck she got into Auburn. She tries to make herself out to be some type of sophisticated women within the business world. She has had too many glasses of wine! Pickled mind!

            Strike Fast! Strike Hard!

    • Anonymous | June 12, 2017 at 7:22 pm |

I will agree with you somewhat about the Mayor. But it doesn’t change a damn thing with the others. The Mayor could make a mistake everyday. But, will not catch up to the crap that has been proven right before our eyes by the sleaze bags who have screwed all of us and then publicly as God what to do about it. God is going to punish them. Dorsey, Pittman and Elliott. Cannot have a normal conversation with anyone without thinking what are they themselves going to get out of it. Check the records of LLC filed in Alabama. It’s a disgrace. Tucker Dorsey even saying at on time that his company didn’t suppy dirt to the soccer field. His new LLC’s did. While firing some of the best people we had in the court house in Baymintte. Come forward. Those scare to lose their jobs or have already lost their jobs because of Tucker Dorsey. Ask Frank Burt if he didn’t even order Tucker to do some of the firing. Thank the Fairhope Councilmen for all the screwups and talking to all of us like we are a bunch of ignorant people. Wow! Still need the Middle School student to run the city. Watch Trippman’s and Elliott’s percentage of votes in the upcoming election. You won’t be able to say we were wrong and we won’t even say we told you so.

  2. Let’s talk about the Soccer Fields. Did any of the lawyers from Hand Arendall own this property and Mike Ford was the Real Estate Company that handled the sale to the city? If the Scoccer Association has a tournament does the city get any of the funds OR does all of it go to the Soccer Association? How can we find out how much money has been spent so far on the Soccer Fields? Someone out there has the answers!! Anyone that has a child or grandchild that plays soccer thinks having all these Fields in Fairhope is wonderful!!! Citizens in Fairhope need to do some investigating about the Soccer Fields. They say that having these fields in Fairhope will bring in tourists and they will stay in Fairhope hotels and eat at restaurants in Fsirhope and in general will shop in Fairhope . I don’t agree! With all the Fields around Foley I cannot believe anyone would stay in Fairhope as opposed to Foley which has the Outlets and Gulf Shores at their back door with the beaches and all the things to do at the Gulf! Wake up Fairhope!!

    • Locust Grove | June 10, 2017 at 7:08 am |

The soccer fields in fairhope cannot compete with those in foley and orange beach. they are not able to draw large tourneys. it’s too late. fairhope missed the boat. but those communities have another edge. they don’t pump raw sewage into the bay. and their city councils aren’t run by the goobers. fairhope spent seven million total on those fields. foley built a world class facility for four million. fairhope looks so dumb. out of touch. why do the people not say anything and let the goobers run in it to the ground? so sad. you can see it is slipping. the soccer field thing stinks to high heaven for sure. No accountability as usual.

      • Christian Mentor | June 10, 2017 at 8:04 pm |

If you look at where the soccer fields were built, you can see the wickedness of the GOoBers ways. They built the fields on a sloped land. They brought in millions of dollars in dirt dug from Tucker Dorsey’s fields in Silver Hill/Robertsdale. Then they bilked the city more millions for “leveling”. This is one of the biggest scams Kant/Burrell/Boone committed.

        • Anonymous | June 11, 2017 at 2:34 pm |

And it’s WAY!!!! past time to get rid of Tucker Dorsey. This will happen. An embarrassment to all of us. He’s using the God thing to the hilt just like Tripp Pittman does and also is unethically awarding himself contracts and getting rich off the citizens of Baldwin County and MR. DUI Baldwin County Commissioner CHRIS ELLIOTT who still lies and twist the story. Just watch and learn. Clean wipeout….That will be the Lord’s doing. These Alabama politicians are done!!!! Let not forget about the Fairhope City Council! Matter of time!!! Look up how many LLC and new companies have been formed between these 3 and the city councilmen. Dozens and Dozens!!! Look it up. One has a dozen himself just during the past 2 years. You don’t have to keep creating different companies to do business honestly. It’s only meant for the dishonest people who keep on and on creating new LLC’s.

          • Anonymous | June 12, 2017 at 8:05 am |

            WOW I agree
We have some poor(as in quality) government office holders in this county

        • Jester Triple-Six | June 13, 2017 at 3:01 pm |

If anyone would go to a city council meeting and watch this mayor who wants to spend, spend, then you will come to the realization that we are all in trouble.

She now wants to take over the marina. “The study” that was done, it was done internally, by a political friend of the mayor’s, and the mayor gave her a job, then ask her to do a study that she is not qualified to do! That study was like comparing apples to oranges, I have a hard time calling it a study.

You have to love the mayor’s Facebook posts! We monitor computers to ensure efficiencies…what she should have said was WE ONLY MONITOR THOSE THAT WERE APPOINTED BY KANT. This mayor is dangerous as they come because she doesn’t realize that most do not listen to her lies. She believes her own lies!

NO, most companies do not spy, they may block and limit where employees search or limit sites. When you spy and you obtain personal, highly sensitive information that can only be view by few, you have a major problem. This mayor is in for a lot of issues!

Kant left this city to this mayor with the strongest balance sheet of any Baldwin County city. Burrell/Bonne help build this city and she wants to change things for the sake of change – foolish as she is.

          Strike Fast! Strike Hard!

  4. Pollution Hater | June 10, 2017 at 3:39 pm |

Raw sewage alert for Fairhope. Wkrg reporting.

  5. Tired of the Fraud | June 10, 2017 at 9:45 pm |

Could someone please break down the cost of soccer field in Fairhope? How – just how in the world could that have cost $7 million ??? I want to know WHO got paid this – Every one of them from the landowner on down. It is out in the middle of no where. The land could not have been outrageous – unless a bunch of kick backs were given – clearing property, putting asphalt down to make parking, lights, field goals, fence – give me a break – just WHO ALL was STUPID enough to spend that kind of money?? We want accountability of every penny of where this money went!!

  6. Christian Mentor | June 12, 2017 at 7:00 am |

FOIA requests for information related to public spending must be granted to citizens. One of you sleuths who follow Rippster should request all the money that went out for the soccer fields. Please let us know if the request is granted.

    • Anonymous | June 12, 2017 at 8:09 am |

Add the Airport Authority and even before that entity was formed. Tally all the Government Grants and where the Money went.
Don’t think they could spend all those millions and still nothing to show for it!

      • Strike Hard Strike Fast | June 12, 2017 at 7:27 pm |

Still owe over 7 million on an 8 million loan that is getting to be where we have paid about 4 million or more against it. You people are not stupid. Will never pay it off. Bleed the city Jack Burrell. But the Feds know it know. A few of you others as well. Only seen the sign off on Jack Burrell’s illegal and unethical involvement.

  7. Sandy Ford | June 13, 2017 at 6:36 am |

Al.com named fairhope the fastest growing city in Alabama.
If kant and boone and burrell and the goobers did such a great job managing sprawl why is fairhope last?

  8. Anonymous | June 13, 2017 at 7:44 am |

Wilson has now hired an attorney and is threatening to sue the council and Tut Wynn if anyone disagrees with her. SMFH

    • When you disagree with mayor Wilson she cries! Boo-hoo-hoo! I demand you to respect me!

      • You have to earn respect. You never have. You never will. You win the most stupid post of the week! You are a very weak person!

  9. Fairhope. It’s a beautiful place but if anyone was ever held accountable to the Open Meeting Act it would be a ghost town. The city would not exist as is without the FSTC. No one remembers when FSTC tried to dissolve and become a For-profit cooperation in the late seventies. Let that sink in. If not for a few farmers/leasees living outside City limits and Alabama Supreme Court all 4,400 acres of colony would be privately owned. Pretenting to live in Utopia is nothing more than a smoke screen created by folks with special interest.

    • Jester Triple-Six | June 14, 2017 at 11:03 pm |

The FSTC has been a real gift for this city. Those that do not realize this are uneducated at best, the FSTC gives so much money to this city. One would think that those that enjoy the many features here in the city would thank the FSTC! I remember the desolvation case well, and in the end, those that hold stock should be thrilled today! Estate Planning 101!

      Strike Fast! Strike Hard!
