FOR THE RECORD โ€” MEGA-MONEY

The Ripp Report has been covering the Baldwin County Mega-Site since it was purchased.

MEGA-MISTAKE | THE RIPP REPORT / BALDWIN COUNTY LEGAL EAGLE

You are going to have to get a free Lagniappe or pay to go on line to read this story. It is obvious that Baldwin County has a media drain. Lagniappe and the Ripp Report appear to be the only sourcesโ€ฆ

For years the site has been promoted as โ€œshovel readyโ€. I guess that means you can use a shovel on the property because without a rail head and utilities, it can be hardly described as โ€œshovel readyโ€.

A special meeting of the County Commission, July 25th, has now taken action to qualify the site as โ€œshovel readyโ€, by authorizing the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, big title lot of smoke, to proceed with 7 million dollars of needed infrastructure. Presently there is no contract or letter of intent, for the mega-site.

The Ripp Report attended the meeting and am very sorry to report that not one other citizen in Baldwin County attended.

This Ripp Report is FOR THE RECORD. Read and listen because the Ripp Report intends to give the public an update every 6 months.

FOR THE RECORD:

This article is full of important information about the mega site and was published prior to the meeting. The County, nor the Alliance, provided as much information to the public, as Lagniappe.

Baldwin County seeking improvements to South Alabama Mega Site – Lagniappe Mobile

The Baldwin County Commission has advertised a special meeting July 25 to consider an agreement to transfer a portion of the South Alabama Mega Site to the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance. Today, BCEDA President and CEO Lee Lawson said the Alliance is interested in making infrastructure improvements to 200 acres of the 3,000-acre site โ€ฆ

Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance is known for the smoke they generate, problem is there is little fire. How long will the County Commission be blinded by the smoke? Seven years going on 8 and the alliance always sounds like Mel Fisher, the famous treasure hunter, who said โ€œ Today is the dayโ€. He said that for 30 years before he found the treasure. How long do the citizens of Baldwin County wait for the smoke to clear?

    The residents will wait until
The County gives it away and declares success
The newly moved in people of this area are too busy working and paying on the mortgages of the houses they bought on the same subdivisions the good ole boys built
When this bunch of real estate politicians come into gown in the early 2000โ€™s they really pillaged the place as they proclaimed themselves Republican christians
Dorsey, Elliot, Haygood, Conyers, Burrell, and a few others are of this bunch

    • You just named one side of this coin. These guys you named are owned by the other side of the coin. The other side of the coin is Cox, Prebble, and Corte.
Oh yeah, they call themselves Christian Republicans too so the voters will be fooled

  3. But we need this to attract people to Baldwin County. Oh wait! There are people coming without this megasite!

    Boondoggle ?

    • No Richard, not a boondoggle but rather a win win for the real estate interests who are now in political office

Why is the County pushing the Megs Site? If it is developed, it will bring more people to Baldwin County. That is the one thing Baldwin does not need…more people.

    • Ole Fairhoper | August 3, 2019 at 7:17 pm |

No we donot need more people. This place has gotten so crowded. You cannot get around without traffic jams. Shoot, the highway dept just put up ANOTHER stop light just south of the one at the Rock Creek entrance
That is their answer: more stop lights, more taxes, and more subdivisions. These politicians need to get voted OUT of office and end the tyranny of these outside developers
I thought this is why we elected Karin. Why is this overbuilding still going on?

    Guv scam. Baldwin style.

    • Baldwin sleeps | August 3, 2019 at 9:31 pm |

Baldwin County is just a money pot for the rest of Alabama. All of these people in Baldwin just waiting to be taxed and governed. Even the legislative districts are mapped out to dilute Baldwin’s true potential.

    • Let growth pay for growth | August 5, 2019 at 3:13 pm |

Baldwin County is a money pot for the rest of the state. Need money? Go to Madison, Shelby, and Baldwin. These counties are full of suburbanites not caring about the area.
To the transient residents, Baldwin is just a stop on their careers. Buy a house, mortgage it, raise kids, get transferred, sell the house and move on to the next area. In the meantime, play ball at the parks, take the kids to Chuckee Cheese, and build up your 401(k). And they want MORE of these type of people here.
Have more traffic? Four lane the roads. Need more sewers? Tax the residents and not the developers. Need a local politician to approve out of control growth? Call Catalyst and they will buy on for you.
This is what these local politicians have brought us. Elections do indeed have consequences.

The Baldwin Count Economic Development Alliance is so full of bull. It is full of retired guys who have nothing to do but try to rub shoulders with politicians and name drop. They LOVE to talk and talk and talk. They love to waste other peoplesโ€™ time because time is all they have.
Baldwin County is growing on its own and much too fast. Yet this group will claim credit every time a gas station gets built.

  9. Ripp, you got to keep updating your page. You are running a website that more and more people rely on to get their news. With the traffic you have you might want to consider hiring someone to watch your page
You have a good problem. We, your readers need you. If the rumors are true you are giving this up then do NOT shut this down. Sell it to someone who is willing to carry your torch. You have exposed Catalyst and the political corruption.
