MEGA-MISTAKE

You are going to have to get a free Lagniappe or pay to go on line to read this story. It is obvious that Baldwin County has a media drain. Lagniappe and the Ripp Report appear to be the only sources willing to report news. There is other media but the articles published are “fluff” or so mundane and lacking of any back story, that the reader can make little sense out of the content.

Baldwin County seeking improvements to South Alabama Mega Site – Lagniappe Mobile

Baldwin County seeking improvements to South Alabama Mega Site – Lagniappe Mobile

The Baldwin County Commission has advertised a special meeting July 25 to consider an agreement to transfer a portion of the South Alabama Mega Site to the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance. Today, BCEDA President and CEO Lee Lawson said the Alliance is interested in making infrastructure improvements to 200 acres of the 3,000-acre site …

32 million spent, 2 million a year in payments and 7 years later and the Baldwin County Mega-Site is still vacant. Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance under the leadership of Mr Lee Lawson has not been able to find a tenant. The lost opportunity of the 32 million and 7 years of interest has driven the expense of the Mega-Mistake to approximately 50 million.

Seven years and Mr Lawson’s plan is now to transfer title of the 50 million mega-site to BCEDA. Sounds a lot like Fairhope and the City Council wanting to give away 20 million worth of municipal property.

FAIRHOPE UN-ARMED ROBBERY

Our elected officials appear to be ready to transfer title of County and municipal lands to third parties, without full public participation. In Fairhope the council is on thin ice about their slick proposal to give Weeks Bay full and total control of municipal land, 106 acres, valued at 20 million dollars.

Over 600 people have signed a petition in Fairhope in opposition to this secret deal that was keep from the public, until the last minute. If you have not signed the petition, please do so. This issue as well as the Mega-Mistake may wind up in class action lawsuits if the County Commission and Fairhope Council do not make every effort to inform the public of their intentions.

Now, back to Mr. Lawson and the Mega-Mistake, here is a little back story for ya to consider, before the citizens of Baldwin County make the same mistake twice.

CATTLE GATE MEGA-SITE

CATTLE GATE MEGA-SITE | THE RIPP REPORT / BALDWIN COUNTY LEGAL EAGLE

The Ripp Report has written about the Baldwin County Mega-site numerous times. In May last year we had an update on it’s sales status, nothing new. In 2012 the Baldwin County Commission convinced…

Mr Lawson can give a good speech but he never delivers. In Fairhope he failed when it came to the K-1 center and again he failed to produce any results at the Fairhope Airport, aka Jack Burrell International.

Effort is always important however results is what counts and Lawson has produced very little when it comes to results.

Mr Lawson is all smoke and mirrors, his track record and that of the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance is dismal, at best. Seven years of bull—- and now the solution to the mega-mistake is to transfer tittle to Lawson’s exclusive control. What commissioners are pushing this???

A special meeting July 25th has been called by the Baldwin County Commission to discuss just how to package this gift of land to a very incompetent third party. For those of you that have not been to “special called meetings” be advised these special meetings goal is to suppress public participation.

Any transfer of the mega-mistake property should be fully vetted by the public, not a few commissioners.

What is the biggest problem Baldwin County faces?….it is rampant and uncontrolled growth. So, why did the County Commission want to buy an expensive piece of property to promote industry to create more growth. Stop it Commissioners. The property has been purchased, the good ole boys have made a killing, you now own the property. It’s highest and best use is to grow pine trees. Plant some pines on the property and move on. Man up and pass an impact fee to slow growth and fund solutions to the many problems the County faces, such as the County wide sewage crisis.

Do not expect them to pass ANY impact fees. This is Catalyst’s main aim: NO IMPACT FEES. This political group is funded by developers and put politicians in office to keep any mention of impact fees from even coming up on any agenda
A Catalyst politician will tell you that an impact fee just adds to the price of the house. This is not true. An impact fee takes from their profit. A house will sell at market value and the impact fee takes from their profit
Most of the County Commission, local politicians and judges are owned by Catalyst. There are three that were vetted by Catalyst and their campaigns paid for by Prebble, Cox, Belaton, DR Horton, Gumbo PAC, Volkert, and the Real Estate PAC
I saw the finance reports. The politicians have sold themselves and are owned by this group
Cox would like to sue me but the truth keeps him from doing so

Burrell sold his soul a long time ago. Plus, he has lost his mind. There is a copy of his non-redacted police report for the juvie charges floating around. How long until Ripp posts?

Tearing down another good man and his Christian family…
      Shame on you Mr. Ripp!

      • Christian? I am so am amazed at how duped you voters are. All one had to do is say”Christian Conservative” and you voters go into a trance. Tell me: what part of Catalyst is Christian?

      • Catalyst Christians | July 23, 2019 at 5:46 pm |

Earline, I get sick and tired you of and your ilk using the word “Christian” to justify the actions of greedy men.
As Ghandi once said,” I like your Christ but I do not like your Christians.”
If this is what being Christian is about then these men have hijacked the Christian religion as well. According to YOUR interpretation of Christian then Christians are going to Hell.

      • True Christian | July 23, 2019 at 8:24 pm |

Shame on you Earline!!! Don’t you DARE invoke “Christian” to rationalize the actions of these men!!!
I am a Christian and I am disgusted at their actions. I don’t know what heathen god you invoke but leave the true God out of it
Get the point? We know what these godless people are doing. The Devil is heating up the fires of Hell to receive their condemned souls

I heard someone is interested. Stay tuned.

    • Interested but not buying | July 23, 2019 at 3:22 pm |

Yeah, yeah, someone is interested. I am interested in buying a yacht but that doesn’t mean I am going to buy one
Geez. Keep stringing the folks if Baldwin County along. Eventually it will be bought after the interest payments equal the value of the land then our “Christian Conservatives” will finally sell it

  3. stupid is as it does in lower al

  4. Getting a little slow on posting the responses, eh, Ripp? You get 12k clicks a week yet you are slow to update

    • African American FH | July 23, 2019 at 9:02 pm |

12k is a low number. my guess is 18k.
      But what do I know?

Catalist will have a hard time getting their people elected this next go-round.

      • I sure hope you are right on both of your points
If Ripp does get 18k clicks rather than 16k then more power to him. His web traffic is s testament to the lousy press job the other media is doing
As far a Catalyst having a hard time next election, I hope you are right. I along with others are going to out the candidates that will use this outfit. Using this outfit is proof they have sold themselves to the outside real estate interests and do not care about Baldwin County
Politicians beware! You WILL have to answer for this if you use Catalyst
