November is a month of special significance to many who have served in the United States military.
Veterans Day celebrates the service of all United States military veterans on Nov. 11.
Veterans Day follows the Marine Corp Birthday on November 10th.

The Marines have a motto: SEMPER FI
“always faithful” “always loyal”
Fifty years ago, Nov. 11th 1968 I returned from Vietnam or “Nam”, after 13 months as a combat engineer, in the United States Marines. 1968 was also the year of the Tet Offensive in Vietnam, which I experienced up close and personal.
My last base of operations was Dong Ha, about 7 miles from the DMZ. I was lucky to return to the United States, alive. I lost my first cousin and many friends in the Vietnam war and returned to a United States protesting the same war and morning the assassination of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King.
1968 was one hell of a year. It was the same year I started college and became political active. It also was the first year I became involved in non profit consumer affairs.
Consumer affairs and political activism has been a part of my life for the last 50 years.
Considering all the above it is not surprising that I hold the United States Constitution and the rights it affords it’s citizens, as something we all should stand up for and defend.
Those rights were challenged by the Fairhope City Council and City Attorney when they denied me my right of free speech. The “at large Catalyst” council challenged my Constitutional rights, my military service and disrespected all who served in the military.
THEY HAVE NEVER APOLOGIZED TO THE FAIRHOPE COMMUNITY.
Fairhope City Council begins with a prayer and then the Pledge of Allegiance. The hypocrisy of the council to deny anyone, especially a veteran, the right of free speech, is glaring.
The council was sued by The Ripp Report, which is a consumer association and represents citizens, not
Special interest. The, at large council, displayed a complete lack of transparency, accountability or an understanding, of what Veteran’s Day, or the American Flag represents.

If this happens to any other citizen in any of the 14 municipalities of Baldwin County, The Ripp Report will offer it’s services to prosecute those responsible in Federal Court.

You stay on those Catslysts, Ripp!
These guys are allowed to take contracts under AL law. You are wasting your time Ripp.
You served your country. The Goobers on the council served in the country club.
Councilman Robert Brown also served our country at a time of war. You should fact check before making a broad assumption.
oh yeah. One of the Three B’s. I take that back – one third of it
But now he serves Catalyst
I knew Robert Brown served he also sat on his ass and keep his mouth shut the whole time. Brown also faces multiple ethics complaints, stay tuned.
Brown served…so now he steals.
He better go to church.
So Kristen, you can stop your indignant and sanctimonious attitude here as you try to carry the water of the crooked council. We know them and who they are.
Looks like your comeback came over like a lead ballon
I too served my country in the US Army
Ripp should have let Jack Burrell put him in jail that night. Then he would have had a real federal case. Ripp would be a real political prisoner.
Burrell has turned the Fairhope Police into his own private goon squad. We must vote him and the rest of the Catalysts out
Robert “jester”Brown…the clown from our hometown…brand new home on our dime…
My hero. Honest graft…Fairhope style baws.
Pure Christian. Kneels before God his savior.
Like trip and Bentley.
Wakeup and worship!!
Expressing my thanks for your service and sacrifice, Ripp.
Your service probably has a lot to do with your fighting spirit and your fight for the people and everything just.
Keep up the good work.
Disappointed in election results on the local level but that is politics and not really surprising.
It will take changes in the local council to have an effective city government. It will take a good Republican candidate to replace representatives and senators. Democrats just won’t make it in Baldwin County- even if we knowingly elected and re-elected some terrible people.
Just have to keep fighting.
Ripp has shone the light on the criminals ruining Baldwin county.
Go firth and do good.
Spread the good word. Take the county back from the goobs.
Robert Brown has his sights set on bigger contracts. Jack can’t get all the graft (airport).
