It is no secret that I have spent 10 years trying to unseat the Mayor of Fairhope. It is expected after an election to be gracious and heap accolades on the departing Mayor, I will reserve my comments until Nov. 7th. The transition period between now and Nov. 7th will be telling. I hope it is civil with no surprises or forced through agendas that may impact the city negatively.

Congratulations to all the staff and volunteers who spent countless selfless hours supporting Karin Wilson. It was tough with many highs and lows, scorching heat and long days. It was a grass roots effort where a community came together to replace the status quo and incumbent of four terms. Not many people ever gave us a chance and certainly the odds were against us.

I am immensely proud of Karin whom I did not know well prior to the election. Her decision to run was not an ambition but a calling. Had she not run there would have been no competition and we would face 4 more years of the same. Her performance and determination during the campaign is evidence of her character and what you may expect of her as Mayor.

Fairhope cast over 2000 votes more than Daphne, a larger city, did in their election, and set a record for a Fairhope election. It is a testimony to a community who cares about its future and wants to be a part of it.

The last minute decision of the Alabama Sec. of State Elections Division to monitor the elections was a welcomed gift. Fairhope needed to know the election would be fair and honest, regardless of the outcome.

I hope that readers of The Ripp Report and Baldwin County Legal Eagle understand the power of people and that they can make a difference when united.ย  Never let anyone tell you that you canโ€™t win, that you canโ€™t make a difference or you canโ€™t beat City Hall. Together we can. This election and subsequent win by a candidate of the people will have a profoundly positive effect on Fairhope and is evidence that anyone can win.

The challenge now is to support our new Mayor. It will take dedication teamwork and diligence to prevent the remnants of the last regime from eroding our efforts.ย  Trust me, there will be people trying their best to make us fail, look forward, not backwards.

The Ripp Report and Baldwin County Legal Eagle are very proud of the part we played in this election and we intend to carry on our mission of exposing political and judicial corruption. We have many irons in the fire and will keep you posted.

Too bad Daphne dis not have the Secretary of State – Dirty Dane really rigged the elections there….
He locked the front doors and made the voters come to him before they could vote. Criminal – but Dirty Dane is quick moving.

    • That is false. Nothing different in Daphne election other than condensing the polling places to two. No one was inconvenienced by this. Don’t believe the hype.

Congrats to Mayor Karin Wilson. God bless!

      • Melvin Bean | August 27, 2016 at 8:12 am |

Yeah right. Dirty Dane was all over the setup of the fraud called “election.” He kept his special reserved polling place for his home district though

    • I think they did have a problem with one of the boxes and several people are asking for a hand count of that polling place

      • Melvin Bean | August 27, 2016 at 8:13 am |

Yeah District 2. There were more “votes” in that machine than possible

      • Melvin Bean | August 27, 2016 at 8:18 am |

Nothing “different” other than “consolidation?” This is a classic move that is made by election fraudsters. Dirty Dane strikes again.,.

        • My comment was mostly focused on the “locked the front doors” comment. That was same as last municipal election. Doubt you are will to say Coach Yelding was dirty too (he wasn’t). As far as district 2 I have heard this as well. Should be easy to check. If there is fraud I’m not sure you could prove who was involved. But it would definitely cast doubt on the results.

How can Dist 2 “report” an 80 percent turnout when the rest of the Districts reported only 20 percent. As a computer science major from Auburn (War Eagle!) it is too easy to manipulate the ROM modules. All it takes is to look at the number of the signature sheets to see if over 800 people REALLY voted unless the papers were destroyed.

  7. Still have Diana Brewer to unseat in a run-off.

  8. That is priority! Get her out!

  9. Thank you, Paul! I have followed you religiously and always look forward to your thoughts and opinions.

  10. Forensic audit needed before Mayor Wilson takes office. Unfair to make her accountable for any prior impropriety. Epic win for Fairhope. Great job!

Paul, for years and years you have been a constant voice for reform. Usually a lonely one. And now the the opportunity is here to see the changes you have advocated for so long start to take effect
    Good going.

Prayer is powerful! The people kept the faith and worked hard to save the future of this special place call Fairhope. Corruption and greed can totally destroy a community and the people have spoken!! Enough is enough!!! Fairhope belongs to the people and it will not fail. It is a new day and it will take An army of believers in doing the right thing and a watchful eye to protect our mayor through the tough decisions that are ahead! Yes this movement will go down in the history books of this beloved town!! Fairhope is not and will never be for sale!!

    • Many will try to make us fail, it will not happen Karin is much stronger than they think and she will has an army of supporters that will watch her back
