Fairhope you have two choices. Believe in Mayor Wilson and her ideas on infrastructure and growth or follow a city council who has demonstrated no leadership, has adopted the theme of no action, is in denial of facts, and refuses to adapt to changing demographics, or change period.

FACT: Fairhope is the fastest growing city in Alabama.
FACT: Fairhope Schools did not rank in the top 25.
FACT: The first two facts are a direct result of the population explosion, unbridled development and greed.
Fact: Ignore the above and schools will decline so will the quality of life, commute times will be longer, and property values will decline.
FACT: Fairhope infrastructure sewer, electric and water all are in dire need of repairs, after years of neglect, and assets like the Pool and Athletic Center, Nix center, Quail Creek golf course clubhouse and library all need major repairs.
FACT: The Council has hindered any progress in addressing major issues and their lack of leadership and reluctance for change will only exacerbate the problems. They harp against change while the whole county is changing daily. If they continue to ignore the obvious and support Mr Boone and Mr Burrell’s campaign to oust the Mayor, at any expense, the Fairhope that once was, will be no more.

Jack Burrell, come fly with me, cannot help himself from self incrimination. The airport scandal is still pending and focused on Mr Burrell’s action as city council president, airport authority liaison to the city of Fairhope as well as being spokesman for the airport authority bid committee, of two, all at the same time. He has yet to explain any of his actions, however he supported the airport authority hiring an attorney firm, that represented Mr Ray Hick application for an ethics opinion, to investigate the Ripp Report or me personally. He has the interest of the airport authority first and has failed to represent the best interests of Fairhope.

Mr Burrell now is complaining about the mayor hiring an attorney to represent herself against the council and the obstruction put forth by the council that has prevented the mayor from doing her job.

Now you would think Mr Burrell would keep his head down, but you,

I have followed four Fairhope city councils and one thing I can tell you is with each new council several things became abundantly clear. The new members of the council are usually influenced by…

Jack’s flying high these days and doubling down on his attack against the Mayor, problem is that his latest move incriminates him even further and makes the council look complicit.

The mayor’s attorney wrote a “confidential” letter to the Fairhope City Council outlining complaints the mayor wanted addressed. What does Jack do? He leaks it to the press. He now realizes his mistake and is developing a spin story which I am sure will blame someone else. That someone else HAS to be on the council so take your pick Beavis or Butthead. I am picking Beavis.

BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD invade Fairhope Everyone in Fairhope, Alabama is now aware of the rude conduct of the two councilmen who were elected with little or no opposition in the last election. The…

Fairhope loves holes and now Jack is digging one for himself and at the same time dragging the council with him,

Fairhope has a fascination for holes. They approved digging a hole for a strip center to accommodate a Publix. That venture has been controversial ever since and spawned several lawsuits. The…

The mayor posted this comment on June 11th, Mayor Karin Wilson of Fairhope, Alabama
June 11 at 7:30pm.

I am posting this statement to provide the citizens of Fairhope an accurate account of the events of the past few weeks.

As you know, I have pledged to bring you openness & transparency, implement ways to protect the way we grow, bring fiscal responsibility and make decisions that are in the best interest of the city.
In my first several months in office, I have been reviewing the performance of City Departments and City employees. As Mayor, this is my job. I want Fairhope to be the most efficiently run city in the State of Alabama. I want our taxpayers’ money carefully guarded. I want all our employees to enjoy their public service for our city, but they should perform their job functions at a high level for our citizens and the City. Where changes need to be made in City government, I am making them. However, as you may know, I have met much resistance.
Personnel Claims
There are two claims against me and the City and we may receive one more. The cases include falsehoods, exaggerations and are legally without merit.
I have instructed the attorneys representing the City to fight these baseless claims. I will not agree to pay one dime of tax-payer money (or money from the City’s insurance company) to anyone for this purpose. To do so would only encourage more of the same in the future.
Protecting the City in Future Claims
Recent implications of misuse of monitoring “spying” is groundless. The mayor has the right to protect the city and citizens’ tax dollars from the misuse of city property and disruption from the day to day efficiency of running the City. All cities and most businesses have this in place.
What goes on in an employee’s personal life after work is their business, nonetheless, what happens during working hours in the city is my business as conduct and job performance based on what is in the best interest of the City is my job. I do not monitor any of this myself, but it is one of the responsibilities of the IT department.
The following is from our policy book which every employee receives a copy of before they’re hired: “Employees have no personal right of privacy with respect to use of the City’s email system or internet access. The City may review, audit and download e-mail messages that employees send and/or receive and may review employees’ use of the internet.”
Since becoming mayor there have been a number of stories containing innuendos using secret sources that seem to show more interest in creating conflict than substance about the changes necessary to move Fairhope forward.
Openness in Fairhope Government
I campaigned on openness and transparency in the City of Fairhope. I fully intend to keep those promises. Whenever I can argue that our City records and our City Council meetings remain open and public, I will do so.
The Agenda for Monday night’s City Council Meeting contains an entry for an Executive Session, which is a meeting closed to the public. In my opinion, such closed meetings should be extremely rare. The Agenda lists the reasons given for the need for an executive session: (a) to discuss litigation, and (b) to discuss the lease of the marina.
As far as I know the only litigation to be discussed are personnel claims that may or may not result in a lawsuit. Neither are in litigation. Historically, the city does not go into executive session over claims and I have already instructed the attorneys not to settle as part of the day-to-day operation of the city.
I am not aware of any valid reason to conduct an executive session for the marina property lease. The executive session law requires most Council meetings to be open to the public, but there are exceptions. One of the exceptions is to discuss the sale or lease of City-owned property. While the real property exception to the executive session law may apply to the marina lease at some point, it does not apply to matters to be discussed Monday. When I posted the Marina Blog weeks ago with my recommendation based on a great deal of research, I also had the post forwarded all council. As in most correspondence with council, I did not receive a response.…/
One last request – If you see my Granny, Betty Joe Wolff, please give her a hug and ask her not to stress over all the things I’m going through right now. She is 90 years old and one of the reason I care so deeply about our great City. I signed up for this job and will manage just fine. Nevertheless, I do hate that some of my family members should have to deal with unnecessary stress.
In closing, I want you to know that I will continue to keep Fairhope citizens informed, remind you to attend council meetings (we have one tomorrow – Monday), ask you to remain engaged and let your voice be heard. My door is always open.

The Gulf Coast News on June 12th published portions of the “confidential” letter, without naming their source or printing the whole letter.

Fairhope mayor retains own attorney, threatens suit against council, current city attorney

An outside attorney retained by Fairhope Mayor Karin Wilson has threatened legal action against the city council and City Attorney Marion “Tut” Wynne if a written settlement can not be …

It should be noted that those who have been fired or brought lawsuits against the city, hail this as transparency. The local AM radio station has also adopted the same view and commends GCN for transparency of a “confidential” letter between attorney and client to council. Oddly enough all of these “concerned” citizens are friends and support the overthrow of the first, legally elected, Mayor of Fairhope. They will all fade away with egg on their face or lock jaw from having both feet in their mouth’s.

The mayor’s letter is transparent, the published, GCN article, supports the claims outlined by the mayor’s attorney. These people are not smart and now are facing going to court raising their right hand and testifying. Please ask Jack when you see him if he leaked the letter, the more he denies it the deeper the hole, also ask why he supports disgruntled employees over the best interest of the community? Be sure to ask him why he would be willing to settle frivolous lawsuits against the city?

Fairhope tossed out the Mayor of 16 years and ever since the sounds of rat traps are going off all over Fairhope. It is not uncommon for the new administration to discover past deeds of employees and…

I heard Jack “Beavis” Burrell is on Trip Pittman’s United States Senate campaign committee. Jack is a busy boy. Too busy to be mayor like he wants. One of these young councilmen will be the next mayor. Not Jack. Beavis hasn’t figured it out yet. The GOoBers done sold him out!

    • Out with the Trash | June 15, 2017 at 8:15 am |

That’s a great thing. After Tripp Pittman loses. That will be another thing added to Jack Burrell’s many failures. I might have even thought Tripp was smarter than that. But when you don’t have a chance of winning. Who really cares. Write this one on your calendar!!!

    • Anonymous | June 17, 2017 at 5:38 pm |

Lord, I sure hope no one on council becomes Mayor! No leadership or plan – just finger pointing.
I want our mayor to be able to do her job.

    • Birds of a Feather

  2. Anonymous | June 14, 2017 at 8:23 pm |

I agree with much of what you have written. However, Mayor Wilson owes the ‘citizens’ and voters of Fairhope an explanation of why she has chosen to give such high-paying positions to two of her friends, both of whom seem to lack education and relevant experience. This is a major topic of conversation in Fairhope, but our Mayor does not feel that the taxpayers deserve any explanation as to why these jobs were never posted nor interviewed, nor why she hired the bottom rung of all possibilities. If she wonders why the City Council is now suddenly gaining support against her, it is because of her own lack of transparency. She is seemingly caught in a revolving door with her loser friends who are dependent upon her for a job and an income. If she wants to support them so badly, she should hire them at Page & Pallette; Fairhope taxpayers don’t need to pay these ridiculous salaries for high school grads with no prospects. I voted for her, believed in her and now wish that I could take back my vote……..I know at least 100 people with the same opinion and I am relatively new here and don’t know many people at all. Please, to anyone who loves Fairhope and knows Karin, talk to her! The saddest thing of all is that now we are all rooting for the Council and we know that at least two of them are criminals. Now we are trying to choose between the lesser of the two evils……I think the Council is winning b/c at least they have always had PAYING jobs.
I hate what this is doing to Fairhope but I no longer blame the Council. The Council gave her the budget to hire professionals; with the salaries they approved, we could have acquired the best of the best from all over the country. I totally agree with the Council’s decision to take all financial decisions over $2500 out of her hands; she is ill advised by her high school buddies!

    • Jester Triple-Six | June 15, 2017 at 2:25 pm |

Concur totally! I’ve yet to hear anyone that is happy with her, and I have asked so many people that vote and have not hear one good word. Many of them voted for her, they have said they are so disappointed. IF she makes it to the end of her term and decides to run again, she will not get reelected to any office again. Period!

This mayor will only be transparent when it is convenient for her! She is saying she doesn’t or will not approve any settlement, but she knows it is not her call, so it sounds great on her Facebook post. She is acting like she is standing her ground but she knows that a settlement is not her call! LOL

All you mayor supporters keep believing in her, she is not a truthful person! She is playing what few supporter she has left as FOOLS! Wakeup Fairhope and smell the coffee!

      Strike Fast! Strike Hard!

      • Anonymous | June 17, 2017 at 5:49 pm |

All I hear is what a great job she’s doing and how council and special interests are fighting from every angle they have. Or running scared…

      • Anything that has to do with Jester Triple-Six or posting of Strike Fast! Strike Hard! Is about as far away as someone trying to work together to make this a better town. They bitch until they are out of breath and are certainly no patriots of Fairhope or this County that we live in. Go be a non Patriot somewhere else. It’s been proven that they all have screwed up in some manner. Can’t choose a side when we all have seen the broken promises and the actions at the council meetings.

    • Anonymous | June 15, 2017 at 5:08 pm |

The two employees in question seem to be doing an acceptable job from what I’ve witnessed. I do, however, take issue with the manner in which these individuals were hired.

    • Anonymous | June 17, 2017 at 5:45 pm |

Finger-pointing again. Must be one of the councilmen. Scared of smart women working for the best interest of citizens.
That’s all you have. That and lies when what you really need to do is work for us.

    • Markocubano | June 22, 2017 at 7:07 pm |

AMEN! First time poster, They need to impeach this mayor this is far too much and blatant idiocy.

  3. Jester Triple-Six | June 14, 2017 at 8:45 pm |

Mayor Wilson knows her days are numbered! The city attorney does not represent the mayor, he does not represent the city council, Tut Wynne represents the city of Fairhope! The mayor is completely clueless, she is simply ill-equipped for the mayor’s job. The city attorney does and can do an independent investigation when there is a claim filed against the city because he represents THE CITY! Her claims of not spending taxpayers money on these issues are what she is not doing, she is spending time and money. She is desperate, and her own worst enemy! My word, she really thinks she is untouchable! Complete fool!

    Strike Fast! Strike Hard!

    • Anonymous | June 15, 2017 at 7:49 am |

No one really cares what you or your group post anymore Jester! You didn’t have credibility to start with and you sure don’t have it know. Why don’t you write a letter to the Mayor and the Councilmen of Fairhope and sign your name to it since all you do is ramble on and on about what y’all think is happening. Coward from the start. Still a coward. Come to a meeting and submit your letter and who you’ll are. Can’t do it can y’all. Shut up Jester until you can show people that you have one serious bone in your body. You people just like to say things and hide. I’ll even introduce you at the next meeting. Strike hard strike fast. Jester. You and your group should not even be allowed to post on this site. Go be a prick on another website. I’m sure you are on plenty of others. Joker, not Jester!

      • Jester Triple-Six | June 15, 2017 at 2:14 pm |

Anonymous is calling Jester a coward again! LOL

Why would I need to write a letter to the council? They are doing a good job, and if I wrote a letter to the mayor she would not read it because she is not going to listen to anyone that has good since! I have no problem signing my name – Jester Triple-Six.

        Strike Fast! Strike Hard!

    • Will be watching | June 15, 2017 at 8:25 am |

Well. we will just have to pull out the list on Tut Wynne next. Let’s see what kind of job he starts off doing and what kind of man he is before the list is shared. Maybe he will do his job honestly and pull no favors for any individual. That would be a a great start for Fairhope. We wish him the best of luck and hope that he will honestly do what’s right for the city and not what others tell him is right or wrong.

      • Jester Triple-Six | June 15, 2017 at 2:36 pm |

When you are being investigated, you do not have a right to be the investigator! The mayor is under an investigation, the mayor is the accused and a witness, she not entitled to see anything but the final report. If she did then she would change the outcome to favor herself, and retaliate! When it is an independent investigation, it must be independent! Mayor Wilson knows what she did was wrong, she knows the truth and her supports know the truth, but they are in denial! Tut is a man of integrity and will do what is in the best interest of Fairhope, not the mayor, not the council but what is in the best interest of the CITY!

        Strike Fast! Strike Hard!

        • Strike Fast! Strike Hard! | June 15, 2017 at 5:44 pm |

And I’m sure it will be done. We will help with all details regarding Tut as well as everyone else. No exceptions!

      • SANDY FORD | June 15, 2017 at 8:41 pm |

        Get that list ready

GOoBers gonna Goob. Beavis and Buttheads town now.

  8. Tiny Timmy | June 15, 2017 at 7:04 am |

I saw the boy scouts are having a tri-athlon swimming event at the Fairhope Pier. Does any of these boys’ mommas know about the poo problem in the mobile bay? Perhaps councilman Burrell, who signed the deal to throw ten million dollars at the current system that dumps poo in the bay every day can talk about this at the next fairhop sh*tty council mtg? Those poor boys should sue the cr*ppy council. Good ole boys gave you the poo! don’t forget.

    • Anonymous | June 15, 2017 at 8:07 am |

Tiny Timmy. If these things are all true then they should be questioned at the very next council meeting. I would have to agree with you that the quality of water in this area is bad enough without dumping additional harmful poo or other things in it. This is another fine example of not only the leadership of the council works. But some of the Boy Scout leaders and volunteers are allowing the paid staff of the Mobile area Boy Scout council has no leadership qualities that our Scouts should be learning. Think what kind of example the Councilmen of Fairhope has always set for not only the Boy Scouts,
But the rest of the youth that are paying attention and will be leading this city one day. Trustworthy and being loyal are the two top things all Boy Scouts are taught first. There are grown men who slipped through the cracks and have become Eagle Scouts in the past. The problem is. They do everything opposite and teach the kids nothing. Thank God for the honest and hardworking true scoutmasters and volunteers who do ALL THE WORK and actually have to push back these awful people, most of us know who they are, while teaching our youth and leaders of the future what is right from wrong. You don’t have to tell someone your an Eagle Scout. You show them that you are.

  9. Who leaked the letter? My best guess is Jack. These younger council guys go along with these goons for how long? The obstruction is obvious. Something better give. Suing these jerks was the perfect move. I approve.

    • Anonymous | June 15, 2017 at 8:11 am |

For sure!!!! Jack Burrell is on the run. Let’s also hold the rest of the city Councilmen to the campaign promises. Let’s hold everyone accountable for that matter.

  10. Anonymous | June 15, 2017 at 7:18 am |

“Only the guy who isn’t rowing has time to rock the boat”. Jean-Paul Sartre. The leaders of Fairhope need to start rowing and stop rocking.

  11. Michael Lofton | June 15, 2017 at 7:53 am |

I woke up a few days ago to a story about Fairhope being the fastest growing city in Alabama.

I have to say I was shocked. We HAVE to get our infrastructure fixed.

More roads north and south and address the disgusting sewer system problem.

    • Anonymous | June 15, 2017 at 9:22 am |

HAHAHAHA sorry for laughing at you Michael……you should move to Fantasy Land. Better chance of what you are asking for actually happening.

  12. Anonymous | June 15, 2017 at 7:54 am |

Leaders? The 2 Marble Mouthed Morons (B&B) cannot even verbalize moderately complex thought. Jack cannot pronounce “Perpetuity” and Boone needed Beavis to clarify his own motion (go to 45:00 of the last Council meeting), as he could not do so on his own. It is embarrassing to say the least. GOB’s that are relics from another age.

    • Horace Greely | June 15, 2017 at 9:54 am |

I heard Jack’s intelligence is measured in negative infinity quantitives.

  13. Anonymous | June 15, 2017 at 9:19 am |

Even if a letter is noted as ‘confidential’ by the sender, I doubt that the recipient is bound by that confidentiality. I would think that legally I am free to share any correspondence that is addressed to me. If it makes the sender appear a fool, so be it.

    • It wouldn’t matter what it was marked. It would still get leaked. We didn’t use the word fool!

      • My point was that it is not ‘leaking’ to share one’s own correspondence. Anyone on the Council would be perfectly free to share it with anyone.

  14. So much to say. Of course the likelihood is that Burrell is the one who gave the Mayor’s attorney’s letter to the National Enquirer, er, Gulf Coast Media. I’m not sure who the Jester is (though what an appropriate posting name!) but again, let’s go with likelihood, Burrell. I don’t even read his replies any more because it’s like listening to a sixth-grader. Maybe that’s how Burrell thinks he can fool us with “Jester”, because the writing is so unlike Burrell’s slick and pseudo-polite outward appearance.

QUOTE: “Mayor Wilson owes the ‘citizens’ and voters of Fairhope an explanation of why she has chosen to give such high-paying positions to two of her friends, both of whom seem to lack education and relevant experience.” How bizarre! Lack education and relevant experience? Have you looked at their resumes? On what are you basing this assertion? Information fed you from other “sources”? Because what you’re saying is simply untrue and can easily be disproved – if you wanted to expend the effort to do so. But maybe it’s just easier to go with the flow, truth be damned.

QUOTE (although I feel stupid for quoting a moron: ” I’ve yet to hear anyone that is happy with her, and I have asked so many people that vote and have not hear one good word. Many of them voted for her, they have said they are so disappointed. ” Again, you can say anything you want. I can say: “I’ve yet to hear anyone who is unhappy with her and I have asked so many people that voted and have heard nothing but good words. Many of them voted for her, they have said they are so happy!” See how that works? It means nothing.

Now, on to Lawyer Tut. This man has a crappy reputation as an attorney, he’s dug into the job he’s held for years and he needs to retire before his mind completely goes. Enough about that.

To those who say the Mayor is ill-equipped to run the City. What specifically, does it take for someone to be well-equipped? Being a horticulturist? What about being a misogynistic blowhard with LDS? I want my mayor to be honest with the ability – and more importantly the DESIRE – to weed out all the dirt and corruption and payoffs and money-under-the-table and good-old-boy-handshake-deals and listen to ME, go out into the community and talk to ME, give regular informational meetings where I and people like me get to ask questions and actually receive an answer. And finally – that’s what we’ve got!
