RECUSE YOURSELF

COFAIRHOPE: ATTENTION MAYOR AND COUNCIL

Dear Mayor and Council please take your positions seriously and understand that a part of your responsibilities is to discipline yourselves. The Fairhope City Council in the past has ignored any conflicts of interest, they may have, while voting on issues that they are personally involved with or have a business interest related to the applicant.

The last council meeting had several members of the council that had conflicts of interest when it came to the voting on the extension of the sunset clause related to Fly Creek Apartments.

FAIRNESS

For the 10th time citizens packed the city council chambers to discuss the Fly Creek Apartments and again their comments fell on deaf ears. Four councilmen voted for the extension of the sunset clause that…

Mr. Boone is by far the most conflicted councilmen with a trail of llcโ€™s that would require a full time investigation to sort out. He is also directly related to Catalyst which is a conflict in itself. In January we asked the council to look into what extent Mr. Boone was involved with Mr Angelo Corte.

BOONE-DOGGLE

The council was also copied documents that supported the obvious conflicts of interest Mr. Boone had.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Dear Fairhope City Council: Recently several articles have been written in reference to Councilman Kevin Boone and the business connections he has through several LLC to individuals and engineering company Preble-Rish that are conflicts of…

How much more do you need, because there is more, to convince you that Mr. Boone should not be voting on any Fly Creek Apartment votes or Preble-Rish related issues.

The Alabama Ethics Commission has been perfectly clear on the responsibilities of city councils and itโ€™s members when it comes to conflicts of interest. It is your responsibility to prevent conflicts of interest, not turn a blind eye to the obvious.

Mr. Boone deserves a full investigation into his business interest and his multiple llcโ€™s, something the council does not have the stomach for, however they can force Mr. Boone to recuse himself from this point forward on voting, on any issue related to Angelo Corte or the Fly Creek Apartments.

It should be noted that some of the conflicts of interest Mr. Boone has, date back prior to him being elected. He never exposed the fact that he had business interests with Preble-Rish or with Angelo Corte.

Just how many votes has Mr. Boone cast for his self interest?

Boone is out for himself. So is Jack. Dirtbags lining their pockets with Corte cash. Rumor is they are under federal investigation. One can hope.

  2. Mayor Wilson did good to veto the council decision to allow the thousands of new cars in the form of apartment dwellers.

I hope they are under a Federal investigation!! This also shows what kind of City Council President we have to continue to allow Boone to vote without bringing up his conflicts. Why has the other council members not spoken up about this as well? Does this show how “knowledgeable” they are about law & finance?? I think not.

Kant is definitely running again. I wonder what Burrell thinks about that? LOL.

How funny to say ” Kant is definitely running again” – When all comes out about Kant & what he did in office – He will be in an Orange or striped suit behind bars!!! Just wait!!

Oh come on, what’s wrong with a little wink, a nod, and some “form” of appreciation?
If you all are waiting for the Ethics (cough) Commission to step in, you will be waiting a looooong time

  7. ITS IN THE PIPELINE
    They are going down

  8. I appreciate this blog. The newspapers don’t cover politics like they used to. I know this blog has gotten folks’ attention. I have a friend at the county and he said everybody reads it and talks about it in Bay Minette.

I have said often that the fingers of the Baldwin County good ole boys reach all the way to Montgomery. The good ole boys include lawyers, Commissioners, and people in authority who are responsible for policing just what you wrote about . Do we really think the Ethics Commission will do their job or are they tainted?

  10. I hope I am wrong but the developers are going to get their apartments in. There is too much money and political influence in this project. Corte and his cash; Boone and Burrell with their interests; the lawyer for Corte and his connection to Catalyst; and the real estate industry with its influence has this project surrounded on all sides. Please prove me wrong

    • Isn’t that the way it has always been. Different names same old story. Until someone steps up for what’s best for the community.

Fairhope needs to stop pumping raw sewage into the bay! Disgusting.

    • Melvin Beam | April 21, 2017 at 5:22 am |

The sewage can only increase with the added houses unless they add on to the sewage plant. If they add on we will all have to pay for it. See how uncontrolled growth costs us all except the predatory developers?
