Fairhope Alabama

Today the phrase “to open Pandora’s box” means to perform an action that may seem small or innocent, but that turns out to have severely detrimental and far-reaching negative consequences. Once open all the evils fly out, only leaving the good.

Fairhope has opened Pandora’s box thanks to the HR director and her $100,000 lawsuit against the city. Now the contents are slowly going to be public. The latest item out of the box is the claim of Sherry Sullivan and her wrongful termination.

Sullivan and Jennifer Fidler were fired, and no one knows why. Now we will find out. Fidler is the witness for the HR director. Want to make a bet that Fidler doesn’t jump in with her own lawsuit?

The mayor is constrained by liability not to comment on the firings and she has denied any assault took place.

Guess what is in the box?

The Airport Authority has a great idea! They are going to use your tax dollars to hire “ the top ethics attorney in Alabama” to investigate me and The Ripp Report, and attempt to “head off” any…

If you think Jack Burrell, come fly with me, had nothing to do with the all the above, then you also probably think you can jump out of an airplane without a parachute and you don’t know Jack.

I have followed four Fairhope city councils and one thing I can tell you is with each new council several things became abundantly clear. The new members of the council are usually influenced by…

Now we will have lawyers involved and “cross examination”. Swearing to the truth and all that legal stuff will bring all the dirt to the surface. They are going to wish they never opened that box.

Also in the box is the airport scandal involving none other than Jack, however he had the support of the airport authority and Joe Mc Enermy, the chairman, parroting what Jack told him. The airport authority board knew what was going on and remained silent, even when faced with facts they could not deny.

The “gift” is in the box as well, free wet lands for the city and new liability.

ATTENTION FAIRHOPE TAXPAYERS FW: Fly Creek PUD Amendment & the Deed to the City of the Most Sensitive 4 Acres Mitsy, “email to all council members and Mayor Wilson would greatly benefit the City.

The evil will come out of the jar leaving the good to prevail. Mayor Wilson is no saint but the city council, particularly the three new members, have refused to inspect the contents of the box. Jack’s conflict of interest, Boone’s LLC’s and all the past deeds of the last administration. The council, led by Jack, supports the efforts of the HR director and Sullivan while refusing to support the Mayor or City.

I wonder if the three women have thought how this was going to look on their resume or what the end result was going to be?

Please remember we only had two mayors in 40 years and both left office under a cloud of corruption. So, to see this kind of fireworks should be no surprise. The GOB’s and girls are trying anything possible to reverse the election.

Another take on the situation is:

What is wrong with Fairhope? Fast growing city’s politics filled with tension and division

The fastest growing city in Alabama’s fastest growing county has generated plenty of headlines in the past six months, but none of it positive from city hall. Most of the attention has been on the ongoing bickering between the new mayor and the city council. The attention might swell in the coming weeks after a claim of harassment surfaced last week involving the mayor.

A good article, however it should be mentioned that a few quotes seem to be very misleading.
Diana Brewer, who lost her council seat then went down with the ship, Maritime Museum, is weighing in on “Vision”. Give me a break she has no vision and she supports the Corte Apartments and the destruction of the wetlands. Her new job is with Weeks Bay Foundation who have made their position on wetlands very clear. Diana takes to social media defending her position which is opposite of her employer and board, she should stay in the box.

Joe McEnermy chairman of the airport authority, came out of the box saying the mayor’s “foray into airport authority dealings had a hint of conspiracy theory to it.” He is the Chairman and knows the whole story and has supported Jack’s lies. Let’s see how he does on the stand.

Under professional management Gregg Mims is mentioned, a former Fairhope administrator who resigned in 2012. “Professional” management. Hell, he formed the BOB club, band of brothers, a group of city employees meeting secretly to overthrow the then administration. His resume was hit hard by his actions and it is obvious that the employees coming out of the box did not think about their own resume’s.

I do agree that the mayor made a bad mistake when she took office and decided not to fire or replace any employees. She had hoped they would accept the election results and put the community before sour grapes. She was wrong. She should have fired them right off the bat.

We will have to wait and see if our junior councilmen, Conyers, Brown and Robertson put the city first or they decide they want to climb in the box with the rest.

The mayor is going to destroy what the GOB built in less than 4 years!

The council will be the one to destroy it!

What the hell does Brewer have to do with this, hell, Conyers spewed so much bs propaganda about the lady and she still almost won.

Only those that supporting this type of politics is the mayor and her little cronies. Say whatever they could to deceive the citizens, now old Conyers is on the hot seat, it is not as easy as it looks, is it son.

I have to admit that I totally agree with you about does Diana Brewer has to do with this. Since she was born she has proven to never be a real winner. She had lost more money and made many poor decisions that I can think of personally. Leave her out if it. She couldn’t run a fruit stand much less she has screwed up everything she has touched. Maybe somewhat popular at one time. But I have personally contributed a huge amount of money and time like we all have (another example of screwing up and being awarded for it) The Good ole Alabama ways and what does she care regarding efforts towards conservation. Another screw up by the people!!!!!! who hired her for a position that she is not qualified for what so ever. This will hurt!!!! But it was one of the worse decisions made to put her in that position. Wake up people. You email us almost every day about helping and we have. But be careful in the future. And you other politicians. Take notice. Even the high schoolers are smart enough for that. They care about conservation. But! Don’t y’all start thinking Baldwin County people are dumb!!! That dog is getting tired of hunting. Save your hard work or people will leave. They already have. Some organization please start respecting and not doing your contributioners wrong. It’s dishonest!!!!! And some board members already agree. What mess did she created in Mobile?

Brewer is an example of a pawn of the old guard (GOB). She takes jobs they give her and promises to tow the company line. Funny Weeks Bay hires her and she is for the Corte apartment project that will destroy Weeks Bay. LOL.

Fairhope is full of hypocrites. Religious, political, etc.

                  • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 11:34 am |

Not true. Jimmy went out of his way to not make any negative comments about Brewer. He is a real gentleman and refused to sling mud. This was very important to him during the campaign. Also, Brewer did not “almost win.” He beat her 66.04% to 33.96% in a clean race. So be careful about accusing people of spreading false propaganda.

Already have. People in other towns around us are laughing their butts off after witnessing for themselves that we voted in a bunch of Liars on the council. They lied to our faces to get elected and then double crossed all of us. Don’t care who you are. This is not fake news or a rumor. It’s a proven FACT!!!

            • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 1:38 am |

Damn. You don’t even have pluse do you. Ignorance is no excuse! GOB! That doesn’t mean crap this day in time. We have young men and women working everyday to make this city great. GOB gobbers now a day. That’s ole news. So stupid. GOB. What a joke. 4!years. Even funnier!!!! Stupidity is all you are showing!!!! Did your parents approve your post.

            • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 4:56 pm |

Ah yes! Of course! Whatever you say Jack Burrell. Surprised there is still a town even left. She is terrible! She is awful! What else do you and your council members or your made up accusation accusers want to add?

        • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 6:16 am |

          They did not!!
It was farmers, paper mill workers, shipyard workers, and many many others. They made Fairhope a great place to live and raise a family.
The GOB’s reaped the benefits of the hardworking people of Fairhope.
          The jig is UP!

          • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 4:27 pm |

So what the mayor is saying is “the farmers, the paper mill, and shipyard worker, and many others” they are the one’s that built the city. Now, one could not argue that it is the middle-class workers that made the area a nice place to live and raise a family.

However, most of them have sold their land for a handsome profit, they sold their $50,000 homes for $300,000, and most of these hard workers have made money too. While they may not be in power they are the GOBs and let us not feel sorry for them because they made money. AND they have that right!

All of us that are from around her are good ole boys or girls! That seems to be a nasty word to some.

Now, the one’s that are the real problem is all the carpetbaggers that move down here from the north. They are rude, think they understand what is best for all of us than we do ourselves, they are outspoken and quite frankly a misery to be around. They sold their rat infested houses up north for a song and realize that our prices were cheap. They educated their children up there, paid the taxes there, made a huge salary there, and when they come down here, they want to close the door behind them and change us.

This mayor wants to bring in more carpetbagger like this, those that could care less about families, they will consume the cities resources and add very little. The families that want to move here are looking for a place to raise their children, they want to become part of the community, therefore, there must be affordable housing. Many of these young families do not want to live on a golf course, they simply want to live life and enjoy Fairhope, not change it.

The mayor seems to have forgotten her roots, she seems to have forgotten that families need houses that do not cost $500,000 – $1,000,000. They need these new developments as a way to get started in life, they need a place they can afford. She has forgotten about the house she was raised in, the pier she was able to enjoy. She only sees what she chooses to see.

If this mayor gets her way, she will make this city a slave to those carpetbaggers that like to use our facilities, then complain about our way of life and she will stop the housing that younger families can afford. She wants this city to look like uptown New Orleans, she wants this modern city, not the quaint city Fairhope is. She is the one that wants to change this city for the worse, not the council.

The mayor likes the downtown living, she lives downtown herself, she acts like she was not born and raised here in the South, she does like the fact she is from Alabama. She wants to change the city to this cosmos of something it is not.

There was a time in this city when folks would let you out when trying to enter the road or let someone go before you parked your car. Today, when you let someone go before you park your car they will take your parking spot.

One must ask this question, when you were starting out in life, did you live in an apartment? Or were you able to purchase a starter home? Or did you live in a downtown flat that is 6,000 sq ft? Or a house that cost $500,000 or more? Yeah, Fairhope was a place where families came first, the church was important to us, the flag was respected, and the elders in the community were held in high regard and respected. I see those values disappearing each day, a person without faith is a person that needs to examine their inter-self.

Yeah, this mayor is trying to forget her real roots, and appears she is now trying to make us all try and forget our roots! I am grateful for the council, the previous councils, the previous mayors and even this misguided mayor! But day by day, this mayor is making me begin to hate what Fairhope has become to stand for.

            • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 6:58 pm |

Sounds like Diana Brewer …. Hypocritical
There are Plenty of apartments- the colonnade on 98 …. Also check out Zillow .. Plenty of houses for sale under the price range you listed
We do not need anymore development
Our schools are overcrowded and our infrastructure is failing

              • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 10:44 pm |

                YES, WE DO,

Those around here have zero idea what is about to happen here in the great state of Alabama. With the expansion of the Panama Canal, the city of Mobile is going to become a major hub for distribution because it is the closest deep water port from the canal.

This area is about to explode with people looking for a job, and they will be good paying jobs. Crime is still too high in Mobile, but even Mobile will grow in housing.

The logical choice will be Baldwin County, so everyone needs to get ready for this. No one is going to be able to stop it, it is best to embrace it, prepare for it and start now.

So many people are moving from the north to the South, look at Atlanta and area. Once that bridge gets built from Mobile to Baldwin County, the county will expand biggly.

The great migration has begun sports fans because our county will double in the next 20 years.

                • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 11:47 pm |

Therefore……Fix the infrastructure… The zoning….. The school systems and take the airport back …..
Get ahead before it’s too late

                • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 9:46 am |

Hopefully, the bridge from Mobile will not be built for decades. We need to address the sewer system and schools before we attempt more growth, particularly for renters. There are hundreds of available apartments in Daphne and Spanish Fort; Fairhope does not need transients.

                  • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 1:24 pm |

If you want to address the sewer system, then stop all the bullshit on this site and that is a start.

      • Anonymous | June 3, 2017 at 6:15 am |

The mayor is not a leader either except for her few clueless Facebook minions. Leaders don’t need to electronically spy on the people they are elected to lead.

Amazing how silent burrell is. Kinda like a mouse. What’s he hiding? Somebody needs to look into his affairs.

    • Jester 666 | May 31, 2017 at 4:23 pm |

      Burrell is a wise man!

Any astute person that is mindful knows to try and limit the liability of the city. The council has remained silent because they understand the liability these claims bring.

The mayor needs to remain silent too if she can, she sometimes lets her mouth out gun her intellect, what little there is!

      • Anonymous | May 31, 2017 at 9:58 pm |

Look whose mouth is being out gun and can’t even keep their own mouth shut. JESTER 666!!! You Are No intellect what so ever. Just a JESTERING JERK!!!

Someone just struck a nerve with the mayor, or her sister or her sidekick!

          • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 5:34 pm |

Here is what I find interesting – the citizens of Fly Creek can sue the city and this is okay, Ripp loves it. Then when the mayor get sued for harassing the HR director, Ripp finds all of this to be bad.

There should be just as much outrage about what the mayor did as the Fly Creek deal.

Hell no, you all defend this mayor no matter what she does. You say things like “well Kant did it” and that is the dumbest defense ever. Just because you were abused as a child does not mean you abuse your children.

Hopefully, you can learn from the past, this mayor is an embarrassment for all of us. Can not wait until she gets deposed, speaking of fly, I would love to be a fly on the wall and listen to her stutter and say well, huh, uh, duh, duh, well, you see, oh my, oh me…settle-dee.

Oh boy, I wonder how much of the wine profits in her bar, she has drunk since being served? She was right, it was not an assault, it was harassment and it is still against the law!

            Saddle-up folks!

            • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 10:50 pm |

Was the lawsuit filed before or after the city accepted the deed?
              ……… Carpetbaggers are paying attention

            • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 2:07 am |

Here is what I say abuse those making accusations about someone being abused as a child just to be a shithole and have no brains or proof and have hidden behind everything they ever said their entire life. Tell us who you are and we will show you exactly what a low life prick you really are. Some on shitass. Does it make you feel good talking about someone who you only claim to be abused without proof. What part of you body got worn out. You miserable coward. Tell us who you are. You being abused will be a cake walk. Or we can get help for you. Sick!!! But we can help! Breaking the law. You have done this already posting your cowardly comments.

  3. Wow Fairhope’s population is over 20k! Dang. It’s out of control.

    • Anonymous | May 31, 2017 at 4:34 pm |

False! Just like most on this site, riddled with misleading information. The only census that is official is the decennial census taken by the federal government. Everything else is a guess! So you should state you are guessing the Fairhope population is over 20k. Any reference otherwise is false.

      • Please read the federal census link. Jack you are dumber than a fence post boy.

      • Anonymous | May 31, 2017 at 5:11 pm |

Unfortunately you are giving false information regarding population statics in your comments. The Office of Management and Budget used by federal statistical agencies update the statistical demographic information annually. The US Census Bureau uses the Population Estimates Program which updates annually. The zip code for Fairhope (36532) is determined by USPS and includes area which are not incorporated within the city limits of Fairhope. The city limits of Fairhope using 2016 estimates is 16,857 and the zip code boundary has a 2016 population estimate of 32,079. We are not guessing when we say the population of the area serviced by the City of Fairhope is over 20,000 people.

        • Anonymous | May 31, 2017 at 5:30 pm |

Clearly, you can not comprehend well, what does the word ‘estimates’ mean? They are all estimates, what about estimates do you not understand? Do you need someone to define this for you? An estimate is a roughly calculated it is not what defines the population, it is a rough estimate.

          • Anonymous | May 31, 2017 at 5:59 pm |

Unfortunately for you a rough estimate is how your federal and state tax dollars are distributed…but then maybe you want to use your 7 year old information (which you should really research because it has a plus or minus differentiation). I would rather live in the present. Get over the estimate thing and live in the real world.

            • Anonymous | May 31, 2017 at 6:46 pm |

LOL…you and I are posting on the Ripp Report, we both live in a different world!

            • You mean it has a margin of error, as in a confidence interval? Just like the polls in the election when Trump did not have a chance to win, the election was over…

Did you pass elementary statistics? It appears not.

So, what you are also saying is every time an estimate is used for a census, the house of representatives should change based upon this estimate?

Please, you are showing just how stupid you are, these are not official numbers. They are a SWAG, a sophisticated wild ass guess!

You must work for the new mayor!

              “plus or minus differentiation” jezzz!

              • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 2:28 am |

Yes I passed 4!years of college as well. . Figured well beyond your smart Ass ” pass elementary statistics question” that you yourself are is uneducated rude prick and your question is unwarranted! Shut you piehole!

            • Anonymous | May 31, 2017 at 9:04 pm |

Fact! Estimate! Don’t join the dumbass crowd who think they know it all. It is indeed ALL JUST estimates. It will ALWAYS BE JUST AN ESTIMATE! Who gives a crap if it’s 50 or 50,000. We all need to work together to make adjustments for what ever amounts of the increasing population is or will be. Don’t let someone who thinks they know exact numbers tell you that you are dealing with 7 year old figures and make you think anything different. They are living more in the past than you are. Geeze. When someone wants to be a jerk. Let them be a jerk. They like to think they are so right. So let them. Everyone knows who they are. Stay out of the jerkoff crowd. Now that’s a hard task to do in the present. And that is not an estimated guess!

              • Twinkle Toes | May 31, 2017 at 10:00 pm |

Who cares about 50, or 50,000? Wake up, are you that stupid? Wait and see what the numbers end up being in the end, and you’ll look back and see. There will be an estimate of 123, and it will be off by 3% and that is a lot. 3% of 50 is not much, 3% of 50,000 is more meaningful.

This is why the commerce department does revised numbers! They “estimate” in the beginning, then the data is fully analyzed and the number are restated with a margin of error and sometimes they are really off base!

I am tired of the jerkoff crowd misstating facts on here and you are one of them. That is why crap get stirred up, individuals don’t know Jack! If they want to blog then state that the Fairhope population is “estimated” at 123, not state it as a fact

I bet Hillary Clinton wished there was a better “estimate” in the polls! She would have traveled to Michigan, Wisconsin to ensure the win, but no, they had estimated the numbers!

Learn how to speak the language, if you can’t then go back to the bookstore and read fairy tell stories! This like someone stating the mayor “assaulted” instead of “harassed” the HR lady.

You sound like a community ecomomic development person that is high school educated!

                • Anonymous | May 31, 2017 at 10:11 pm |

I’m assuming that no matter if it is 50 or 50,000. You agree that we all need to work Together!

                  • Maime Simms | June 1, 2017 at 6:03 am |

Hey dipshits…there are easily over 20k living in “Fairhope” which includes Wal-Mart and surrounding areas like Barnwell, etc. All of these people use the roads you rocket scientists!

It took me 23 minutes get to I ten yesterday at 230 p.m.

                    Try it at five guys.

Daphne is building as much as it can. This hurts our commute times. No regionalism in Baldwin…where apes like Jack Burrell and silver backs like Boone run the show.

                    It’s a cro magnon existence.

Wake up and get rid of these backward, redneck politicians!!

Let this dipshit help you our here – it is called the Fairhope Police Jurisdiction which extends out 3-miles from the city limits. The Fairhope planning jurisdiction is set by the city leaders and purportedly extends out to Fish River!

What is the number of citizens within the city limits?

Now, most within the planning jurisdiction are paying 1% property tax to the city.

One of the reasons it takes longer to get to I-10 is 181 needs to be wider and this has been approved. Now, dumbass, you don’t build a 5 lane road when it is not needed, then when the traffic count is there, they widen the roads.

Many that drive on 181 do not obey the speed laws, some drive 10 – 15 MPH faster, and it is the ones that drive 5-10 MPH under that causes the delays, if people would drive the speed limit or 2-5 MPH faster, the traffic would be less.

It is the redneck politicians that built the city, not you! Move to Mobile!

                    • L.D. Sleigh | June 2, 2017 at 10:10 am |

Everyone who owns land here thinks its okay to build a subdivision. You rednecks are insane!

I think soon people will start moving from Fairhope once the traffic and other problems get so bad they hate the place.

Not to mention the corruption. Nice $45k without an invoice, council.

Dipshits somebody said–that’s the council five.

                      Redneckery Inc.

You are clearly not a land owner – must one of those city-slick snake oil salesperson carpetbagger type. If you do like the fact that property owners have rights then move back to the hellhole up north where everyone is stacked upon each other.

Did the city send you a written invitation to move here? Don’t let the screen door hit you in the ass on your way back out!

                  • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 2:32 am |

The GOB won’t even Agee to agree even for the betterment of the city.

            • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 2:20 am |

Just stupid. Stupid and more stupid!

        • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 2:17 am |

Wow. You are now everyone’s hero. What would we do without you. Our hero with such detail. Why don’t you share your name. Love facts and names. What do you have to hide. They are still estimates no matter how many different numbers are given. Let these people know who and what numbers are to be trusted.

          • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 1:36 pm |

All these posters are from Fairhope, they will tell they love you to your face then when you walk away they will say, I hate that person!

It’s like the mayor, yeah, yeah, uh, uh, that is a great point, I am going to get right on that. Then when the person walks away she will say, who the hell does that person think they are! I am the queen, they are my subjects!

Everyone on here needs to admit this, Fairhope has always been the little lie on the bay…just ask a hair salon person that cuts hair!

As Kant said, if everyone that told me they voted for me, voted for me, then I would have won in a landslide.

Backbiting and remaining anonymous is how Fairhope rolls!

  4. Anonymous | May 31, 2017 at 8:14 pm |

How great would it be, if Anonymous (said “fence post”) is Councilman Burrell? If so, come on Mr. Burrell, grow a set and post under your given name. And before you call me out for doing the same, I am not the one pretending to be a leader in this town, one with Mayoral aspirations…Lack of Intestinal Fortitude from a true GOB.

    • Jester 666 | May 31, 2017 at 8:35 pm |

Busted again, yeah, it is me, Jack posting on here again, you caught me. Ole Albert, you are the smartest person in the blog, you are brilliant!

  5. Laura Wilder | May 31, 2017 at 9:29 pm |

Fairhope is bursting at the seams, evidenced by the struggling high school ranked 35th in the 49th state. Shame on kant and burrell and boone for letting things get so out of hand!

    • Anonymous | May 31, 2017 at 10:04 pm |

The reason the schools are ranked so low is that carpetbaggers move down here and screw things up! Move here where the property taxes are low, and then use our good hospitality for gain. Move back up north or pay up!

    • Angus Cobb | June 1, 2017 at 5:58 am |

Fairhope high is building a new wing…it ain’t even enough…they are keeping the trailers. fairhope acts all high fallutin but when the rubber hits the road it is a fast-growing redneck town with inadequate infrastructure and a corrupt government. Karin Wilson is the city’s only hope. Jack and his band of development fiends will ruin it. The airport thing is a joke. They are caught. Most Fairhopians don’t know we pay the airport authority 400k per month.

This could go to help schools. I am upset with this council. It looks clearly to me that all five are part of the GOB. Sad but true. Ignorance is obviously bliss in Fairhope. One day we will all hang our heads when Fairhope is another Robertsdale.

      • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 6:54 pm |

Fairhope school is under the county board of education, not the city council. Wilson can not help much with the school either.

The mayor nor the council can do a lot, especially since the mayor is spending the city’s money with high salaries for her friends and NOW spending money to defend these lawsuits! So, if we are going to say the money used for the airport then lets use talk about other monies spent.

That airport is an issue, and but what can be done now? The city takes back the land, now what? You have the damn answers, tell us, the city takes by the land, then the city now has all the liability of owning an airport. What I love about people like you is you manage by hind-site, that is easy, anyone can manage my looking back, it is those that have to manage now that makes management hard.

The folks of Robertsdale might be laughing at that remark, you can new judge a book by its cover, if you did then you would have to agree that the mayor would be a book no one would want to read!

IF this mayor is our only hope, then it is over, we all need to pack it up and move somewhere else. Hell, even her “bested” friend Ripp has stated, “…mayor made a bad mistake when she took office…” So take it from the expert, Ripp himself!

        • Jane Dough | June 2, 2017 at 10:08 am |

So you want to add more people to Fairhope? You builders only know one thing…

  6. Jester 666 | May 31, 2017 at 10:08 pm |

Just caught the local news, yep, the good mayor made the news again! Lord help us!

  7. Wendy Webb Solomon | June 1, 2017 at 1:44 am |

“Be brave enough to start a conversation that matters”.
Obviously, Fairhope matters to all of us that live here.
I would love to see a better infrastructure.
I would love to see smaller classrooms.
I would love to see a performing arts theatre.
I would love to see a renovated baseball park.
I would love to see a Fairhope Marina.
I would love to see a beautiful beach.
I would love to see the pier with more activities. I would love to see knoll park renovated.
I would love to see all city departments under one roof.
I would love to see something fantastic on the Dyas triangle.
I would love a permanent outdoor amphitheater right on the bluff.
I would love to see our environment be treated fairly.
I would love to see district representatives on our future council.
I would love to see more diversity.
I would love to see neighborhood liaisons to meet with the council, Mayor, department heads.
i would love to see fairness.
I would love to see more annexation to hep fund our police force.
I would love to see a commercial industry adding revenue to our city.
I would love to see the city buildings updated and painted a coastal color.
That is my vision. I’m just one citizen. The vision of the city can not be one set of eyes. It takes a COMMUNITY. It takes everyone looking at problems, finding solutions and building upon the things we love that is here.
Ask the citizens ……. What is your Vision?
Have a Vision Board for the city on Facebook
Let the citizens post what they would want to see……( positive progression).
Then it would be great if the council, the mayor, the department heads and board representatives implement a plan on how to get to the FAIR HOPE we all want to see.

    • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 5:59 am |

Great ideas here. What is Jack’s vision other than armageddon?

      • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 2:39 pm |

That is why you elect a mayor that is “supposed” to be the leader! You elect their vision and their vision is not what the majority wants or you do not elect them!

        Plain and simple!

You elect a council to ensure the mayor does not break the cities budget! It is a check and balance, the worse the mayor the tougher the council, the better the mayor the easier the council is to work with.

Therefore, we have a mayor that wants to change everything yesterday, and the council is on board but not at the pace the mayor wants. They are realist and wise!

        • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 6:41 pm |

keep her from breaking the city budget
Intersting because the council is breaking it by approving airport appropriations with NOTHING in return and
          The money pit library
The handshake deals and overpaying their past unqualified employees
You might want to remind the council of their plain and simple job.

          • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 8:08 pm |

UNQUALIFIED EMPLOYEES – this has to the greatest fake post yet!

The mayor hired some lady to be economic development director that has not had a collegiate economic class in her life. Non-college educated, never held a position as an economic development of anything and is making more money than everyone within the city!

She will get to list this position on her resume, she will move on because she has NEVER held a position more than 3 years, and she will leverage this experience to make even more money.

She will get to do this all because she is a friend of the mayor and the mayor’s advisor!

This reminds me of a Clinton excuses, it is everyone’s fault except Clinton. The mayor and her ‘supporters’ like to point fingers now, those fingers are getting pointed back because of the mayor’s actions! And the mayors ‘supporters’ are hating it.

Unqualified, the mayor, and her sidekick is the ones unqualified. You, the mayor and her little sidekick don’t know Jack!

            • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 10:24 pm |

Sherry Lea don’t let them bring you down
This is “their” style…. “They” will bully you, harass you, sue you, make up false stories. Whatever disgusting techniques to wear you down they will do it!!!
Don’t let them win!! They want the mayor to have no support on the inside. Next they will go after Lynn Maser and on and on. We’ve got them !! It’s obvious… They’re trying anything and everything to divert attention away from the corruption that has been taking place in this town.
Alabama secretary of the state, John Merrill heard the citizens of Fairhope when they wanted someone to oversee the election. He’s a good man. He has his eye on Fairhope…

              • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 8:01 am |

The same John Merrill that was caught just like Governor Bentley having an affair? It all came out in a deposition, and Merrill was trying to hide it. Yup, Merrill is a good guy! Not only does her have his eye on Fairhope but he seems to have an eye on other women too!

              • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 10:01 am |

Botop is an easy target because she lacks education and relevant experience. This job was created for the sole reason of giving Botop a job. If Karin Wilson wants to get back any respect and credibility, she needs to cut her loose before it’s too late. Many of us who supported her in the election are disgusted by this hire and wishing that we could take back our votes. To make things worse, I read that Botop is telling people she was a Harvard graduate! If Botop cares at all about Karin, she will resign immediately so that Karin doesn’t have to fire her.

                • Anonymous | June 3, 2017 at 1:14 am |

This is obviously one of the councilmen. Smart women scare them.

                  • Anonymous | June 3, 2017 at 6:08 am |

If was actually smart, she would have finished college and have the proper qualifications for the overpaid job the mayor gave her …. She is unqualified and uneducated.

            • Anonymous | June 3, 2017 at 1:12 am |

Of you compare all supervisors she’s the most educated in the city. Many are threatened by it.

              • Anonymous | June 3, 2017 at 7:43 am |

No college degree, lied on her application, tells people she is a Harvard Grad … What an embarrassment. who checked her resume?

      • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 10:09 pm |

The only vision the mayor has had of Fairhope is already we are already in Armageddon!

  8. Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 9:50 am |

YES, what is Bull-rell’s vision and plan for this town? Seems he, along with the rest of the council have only offered roadblocks, not solutions. Time for Leaders to lead…”Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18

    • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 3:32 pm |

It is not the council’s job to run the city, it is the mayor’s job. The council should ensure the city’s money is well spent, and they do. If it were up to this mayor, she would hire all of her friends at salary’s they could not obtain elsewhere!

  9. Melvin Beam | June 1, 2017 at 6:36 pm |

You can bet that council members want to get in with the developers so that they can get sweet heart deals and get zoning variances and finish trashing the town before they move on like the locusts that they are

  10. Jester 666 | June 1, 2017 at 7:05 pm |

You have to love Ripp’s stab at ‘reverse psychology’ when he publishes this so called report. I guess he thinks the junior council members are still in junior high school. Let us see if they are going to get inside the box with the rest.

From reading this junk post on here, this is the most target rich environment I have ever seen.

    • Anonymous | June 1, 2017 at 10:33 pm |

If you think it’s junk why do you care to read it?

Everyone loves the Ripp report. It’s like the tabloids no one wants to admit to reading but they do. Yes maybe Tripp Pittman is going to have a baby any day now for the past 10 years but eventually he does divorce Brad Pitt and end up in federal prison with Jack Burrell…
You never know … Stay tuned

      • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 8:07 am |

I think Jester is getting kicks by reading this, he’s like the GOB, he is in denial too!

      • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 9:14 am |

This site is one of the most entertaining places to be for the local gossip, outside of municipal court, you can’t beat this spot for a great laugh.

        • Lutheraintbig | June 2, 2017 at 10:06 am |

You can’t make this stuff up. JD Crowe cartoons and the Ripp Report keep me in stitches. Two local heroes if you ask me. Both liberals. Love those guys and I’m a conservative.

          • Anonymous | June 2, 2017 at 1:21 pm |

You are right, if you want a damn good laugh, this is the place. There are people on this site that actually believe some of this stuff. This site is almost better than municipal court. If you are bored and need a real laugh, drop by and listen to all the stories, funny as they come, and like the Ripp Report, they want everyone to believe them!

  11. Anonymous | June 3, 2017 at 1:47 am |

People who post negative comments on this blog are the people who stand to lose a great deal if the mayor is successful. Why do they read and post here? Because Ripp stands for one thing – exposing corruption. He’s an activist. He isn’t gaining anything politically or monitarily. And he’s not anonymous!!

It is the COUNCIL that has zero plan or vision. All they do is talk smack about the mayor to deflect the fact they do absolutely nothing. I mean N.O.T.H.I.N.G. If council continues to busy themselves just trying to make her look bad I guess they think we won’t notice they’re idiots?

Jack is a hot-head, fake bully who thrives on power. Robert is a DEVELOPER and following in Jack’s footsteps. Jay is a joke – just take the rest of the term off. Kevin…a total embarrassment and crook. Jimmy- I can’t figure him out-riding the middle. They all need to go or start working with the mayor.

And why in the world would anyone interview Diana Brewer or Joe McNerney? Both have added no value to our city. Just jumping on the bandwagon.

    • Anonymous | June 3, 2017 at 6:10 am |

….sounds like the mayor up at 2am in the sauce again …or should we say still in it.
