THE BLUEPRINT THEY HID IN PLAIN SIGHT - THE TOLL TAX TRAVESTY

For decades, while we were busy with our daily lives, a strategy for the Gulf Coast was being finalized in backrooms where no local resident was invited. This isn’t a recent development—it’s the endgame of a scheme that was on the drawing boards long before we even heard about it.

This is a coordinated effort involving the Governor’s office, federal agencies, and a network of key investors. They have finally aligned their interests to execute a transformation that has been decades in the making, and they are counting on us to forget how we got here.

Do you remember 2019? We were loud. We were clear. Thousands of us stood together—over 50,000 strong in groups like the one Jim Zeigler helped lead—to make one thing absolutely certain: we do not want tolls. We made it clear that this “economic necessity” was a financial trap for the average family. Back then, many politicians stood with us, vocal and adamant against the idea.

Where are they now?

Look at them today. They’ve changed their tune. The same politicians who once courted our votes by promising to fight these tolls are now the loudest supporters of this project. They’ve been smoothed over by the powers that be, and they’ve turned into total turncoats. They aren’t representing us anymore—they’re representing the investors who are banking on our daily commute.

Let’s talk about the “new” plan. They’re selling it as progress, but the math is a slap in the face. If you and your spouse are commuting from the Eastern Shore into Mobile, you’re looking at a financial squeeze. If you don’t play by their specific rules, it’s $7.70 per trip. That’s nearly $31 a day out of your pocket just to get to work and back. Even with their “ALGO Pass” bait, they’ve successfully locked us into a system where our daily movement is now a revenue stream for a $3.2 billion project.

And the media? They’re playing right along, pushing the narrative that this is an “essential” investment, carefully ignoring the years of public outcry and the politicians who abandoned their principles the second the wind shifted. This wasn’t an accident. It was a slow-motion takeover. They waited for the opposition to tire out, for the news cycle to reset, and for the “right” people to be in power to push it through. They are effectively erasing the character of our communities to satisfy a blueprint that was signed, sealed, and delivered long ago. They are prioritizing their infrastructure and their investors over our existence. We were told “no” for years. Now, they’re telling us we never had a choice.

If you remember the fight of 2019—if you remember who stood with us and who sold us out—it is time to remind them. We are documenting the truth about this scheme.

Don’t let them rewrite history.
