THIS IS THE NEW LOGO FOR FAIRHOPE

Fairhope leadership spent tax money on a shiny public relations rebrand to mask massive federal lawsuits and backroom property gifts. Unsealed documents show city insiders gave public assets to private groups while granting themselves full healthcare perks and double paychecks. Why are city leaders so eager to change the logo while hiding millions in wasted tax dollars?

ALABAMA BLACK HOLE

The state's top ethics chief quietly pocketed six-figure scholarship payouts meant for impoverished students to fund his own family's elite college degrees. IRS tax filings and court records show state officials altered trust names to hide who really collected the cash. We expose the dark pit where state ethics go to die.

RUMORS

Baldwin County law enforcement officers killed an unarmed citizen during a routine traffic stop and instantly deployed a wall of secrecy to protect the shooter. Official letters and leaked internal records reveal the lead investigative unit is run by the very chiefs covering up their own department's fatal mistakes. Discover the deadly truth behind the whispers that police tried to bury.

WRONGFUL CONVICTION

Baldwin County prosecutors locked an innocent man in prison for two decades based entirely on a fabricated deal with a single desperate witness. Trial transcripts and suppressed autopsy files show top county officials deliberately hid exculpatory evidence to secure a high-profile conviction. When powerful men build careers on stolen freedom, justice demands a reckoning.

BIASED INVESTIGATION

A rigged regional police unit repeatedly cleared local officers of wrongdoing while hiding body camera footage from grieving families and reporters. Federal lawsuit filings and court rulings demonstrate how county law enforcement agencies weaponized open records exemptions to block accountability. Our investigation shines a harsh spotlight on Baldwin County's self-policing kangaroo court.

The (Law Enforcement) Narrative

Bay Minette police officers shot Otis French Jr. after aggressive over-patrolling netted local authorities millions in cash forfeitures. Chief Al Tolbert and sheriff commanders actively hid critical bodycam footage while pushing a blatantly false official story. LETHAL FORCE

Local police departments spent hundreds of thousands in grant money on military-grade combat weapons while completely ignoring basic de-escalation training. Deposition transcripts prove county leaders bought assault rifles and drones while admitting deputies lacked basic crisis intervention skills during fatal encounters. How many more citizens must pay with their lives for this unchecked militarization?

CAROLYN AMICK

Carolyn and I were together for 50 years. She was my best friend, fieriest critic and always had my back. We traveled the world together, dove in exotic places and lived a life many would envy. Anyone who knew Carolyn did not forget her. Carolyn, who some called CA, never understood the argument of women’s rights. She was part of women’s lib before there was a women's lib. She could curse like a sailor and do manual labor with the best of them.
