No Confidence, No New Taxes

Here are two good reasons why you can’t trust the Mayor of Fairhope or the city council.
The first picture is of a fire station located on a dead end street, a clear violation of the comprehensive plan. No public participation or input from citizens, as to its location, was considered by the Mayor or Council. It is an unsafe location, however serves the developer’s needs, who just so happens to be the Mayors benefactor.
The cost approximately 500,000 dollars was financed by a bank. The major contributor to the fire department is the City of Fairhope. Those donations are tax payer money, yet we are shut out from any information or input. The Mayor makes all those decisions.
Not only is the Mayor going to push the fire station, which is surrounded by developer property, he now is going to provide an upgraded sewer system, lift station and water main all for the developer, no charge! That is to the developer, we the taxpayers are paying for all those upgrades.
Planning and zoning will approve whatever proposal the developer dreams up with the Mayors blessing.
This is the same Mayor and Council who now want to tax us, within a year of being elected. The Council is speaking for the city’s population as well as influencing Fairhope County. What data did they have for their endorsement of the new school tax?
This Council also eliminated the citizens of Fairhope from any participation in the triangle lawsuit settlement, fact is they went out of their way to be sure the public had limited information, that cost us 12 million.
The fact that the council is supporting the tax and speaking for “everyone” while listening to no one, and wasting millions, convinces me you can’t trust them.
NO CONFIDENCE - NO NEW TAXES.
