City of Fairhope, Mayor and Council
March 14, 2016

22. Resolution – That the City of Fairhope is authorized to enter into a partnership with the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation for the Manley Road sidewalk construction project.

This item on the agenda is a little vague, Who is the contractor for the sidewalks? In the past these sidewalk contracts have been awarded to Mr. George Robards, who sits on Planning and Zoning, he usually gets these contracts. The fact that he is a member of planning and zoning whose president is Mr. Lee Turner and the fact Mr. Turner is also president of Single Tax is a conflict of interest. Then take into consideration that Mayor Kant appointed Mr. Robards to the Planning and Zoning Board and Mr. Robards is a major contributor to every reelection of the Mayor.

This is a typical good ole boy deal where the Mayor is in control of all decisions. On March 28th we will see the ultimate good ole boy deal when the Council will approve Fly Creek Apartments, despite over whelming public opposition. The Council is notified the approval of Fly Creek Apartments will have serious political repercussions and absolutely will create a class action lawsuit against the City and others.
