“It’s not the crime; it’s the coverup.” U.S. District Judge Kristi DuBose.

“This kind of behavior by anyone, but particularly on the part of a public official, has the potential to undermine the system of criminal justice,” the Judge said. “It can ruin people’s careers.”

Attorneys argued for a longer sentence stating “The corruption was bigger than one isolated land deal, it was part of a pattern of corruption.”

“At its core, this is about corruption and how it affected, all of the people of Bayou La Batre, when they were at their most vulnerable. When these millions and millions started flowing in the mayor couldn’t…”

The judge responded that “What amounts to political decisions and political promises…the people could have voted him out of office.”

The Fairhope Connection

Mayor Tim Kant and Senator Trip Pittman have been covering up their BP Boom fraud for three years. They have lied to us and tried to deceive us. The aforementioned article parrots criticism and allegations involving the BP Oil Spill that killed eleven and disaffected millions.

Who exactly knows the sordid story of the mayor and senator? Everyone knows. City council members past and present, city staff, city attorneys, the Alabama Attorney General, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, media outlets nationwide, etc. Oh, and let us not leave out the esteemed Alabama Ethics Commission, who has stood by while the senator and mayor continue to use their “public official” status to obtain more lucrative local public contracts.

Many people on the county level lost their jobs as a result of the BP Boom Scandal orchestrated by Mr. Pittman and Mr. Kant. The “Three Amigos” on the County Commissioners-Bob “Five Fingers” James, Burt and Dorsey all played a despicable role in the BP Boom Scandal. Like their counterpart, Mr. Wright, when they saw the millions, “they couldn’t resist.”

How bad is it in Fairhope, Alabama? People think it is such a nice place. They are clueless to the level of political corruption here. Many, many citizens believe that the municipal elections have been compromised; eliminating any possibility of voting Kant out of office.

In most communities you depend on the press to report on political corruption. The Fairhope Courier has ignored the BP Boom Scandal and the related federal investigation, despite having documents to prove the deceit of our public officials-Mayor Kant and Trip Pittman. The utter lack of legitimate reporting on political happenings has degraded further. The Courier is now an advertising journal. It is not a newspaper. It is more interested in dollars than truth. The Press-Register is not much better.

We criticize the federal government whenever possible. However, we have not cleaned up our own local government. The only accountability will come from the federal government!

And remember: “It’s not about the crime: It’s about the coverup.”
