Intimidation - A Tool of Corruption

Intimidation: to make timid; make afraid; daunt, to force or deter with threats or violence; simply put bullying.

Intimidation is as common as pecan trees in Baldwin County, used by some politician’s judges and attorneys very effectively. A bully’s major weapon is intimidation, they go hand in hand. The intimidation may be subtle, such as rumors, or aggressive, threatening additional legal action if you do not comply. Municipal Intimidation is a Mayor exceeding his or her authority over employees, forcing employees to follow instructions, even if they are wrong, or risk losing their jobs. A good example is Mayor Kant and his heavy handed tactics against his own employees and citizens on the issue of Fly Creek Apartments. Intimidation in the family court system in Baldwin County is so woven into the judicial system that the very justice we seek is unavailable. Threatening someone’s job or reputation to further the “good Ole Boy” machine is the cardinal rule among bullies.

Recently I was a victim of intimidation when false facts were printed about my Vietnam injuries. This is just one incident in a list of actions that were directed at me to get me to go the f away. I invite intimidation by my actions as an anti status quo, consumer advocate exposing corruption. I have been politically involved with Fairhope for over 10 years and that is what led to the Ripp Report and later the Baldwin County Legal Eagle. In Fairhope the Planning and zoning board, years ago, refused to let me speak several times at public meetings, each time I would employ an attorney and was ultimately allowed to tell them what they did not want on the record or the public to hear. Once Fairhope threatened to take down a gate on my property, only problem was it was not my property, dumbasses. The past City Council did not like my participation or tone at council meetings and threatened “removing” me if they felt a little too over whelmed with constructive criticism. Their next move was to install metal detectors; some people have no sense of humor, guess what I kept coming back.

Some people feel that fighting back is useless and the burden of intimidation is too great, that the status quo can’t be beat and corruption is rewarded and inbred in Baldwin County.

That is not the view of The Ripp Report or Baldwin County Legal Eagle. We feel public exposure and filing legitimate complaints as well as protesting publically will evoke change. The silent majority “non-voters” can change the inherited corruption in Baldwin County by voting out entrenched politicians.
