Independence Day – What does it Mean?
07.03.2014

Dear Fairhopians,

Look at your city. Look at the many conflicts of interest that exist. Why did many brave souls fight and die in multiple wars? Was it all for naught? Is there not tyranny and despotism and censorship alive and well here in Fairhope? Mayor Kant is a sociopath; yet no one challenges him; not even the media.

If you watch multiple channels of international news media you will see that corruption is everywhere. Fairhope, however, is home. So we should take a special interest in our community and community affairs.

With the recent election of Lee Turner to the Fairhope Single Tax Corporation while he is the chairman of Planning and Zoning, is a huge conflict of interest on many levels.

In the little time Mr. Turner has been seated on FSTC he has caused turmoil—just like he did on Planning and Zoning with the Baptist Church, Publix, Dyas Lawsuit, etc. as well as limiting public participation to once a year for the citizens of Fairhope to speak to “non-agenda” items.

In his short tenure with FSTC Mr. Turner has accomplished removing two members for simply wanting the truth, threatening the general public with police if they did not vacate a meeting space, and used his executive session to shield their machinations from the public eye.

The single tax issue is complicated, and we will have a special Ripp Report forthcoming. I have spoken to 14 people for over forty hours over the last two weeks who are involved with the single tax corporation. Two or three people mentioned lawsuits. One suggested a class action. This is only the beginning a very nasty situation for Mr. Turner and his supporters. I suggest that any of those interested in litigating any of the officials or representatives on FSTC should ensure that each be included personally in the lawsuit so that they are held accountable for their decisions that affect the members of FSTC.

Planning and Zoning and Public Works are totally micromanaged by Kant. One hundred percent. On any given issue before the council, he has a guaranteed three votes of the five. The conflicts of interest involved with city business, its contracts, and FSTC, are all ignored.

How did this happen? Because you didn’t come to the meetings. The citizens of Fairhope and the members of FSTC have to get involved or things are going to get much, much worse.

Contact your city council representatives and the directors of FSTC and tell them that you are tired of the blatant, bold corruption and you want it to end.

Happy Fourth of July

Paul Ripp
