HOW THE PENDULUM SWINGS

Well, Wonderful Wednesday had some very interesting commentary.

HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN

Fairhopeโ€™s mayor extended an olive branch to the city council and they accepted it. The last city council meeting was civil, polite and cordial among council and mayor. They are going to have difficult times…

Let me set the record straight on a few issues. First The Ripp Report is written by myself and sometimes does not get any grammatical edit. I apologize. Had I known 60 years ago that I would be writing the Ripp Report, I would have paid more attention in English class. I hope you get the message.

The mayor extended an olive branch to the council and the council accepted the opportunity to make peace. This should not be interpreted as a sellout by the mayor or the council conceding in positions they have taken. This was a necessity in order to move the city forward from the reverse course it was on. The wounds inflicted by both parties will be opened again in the future as the same subject will come up again and again.

The mayor will not sell out to the GOB, good ole boys, or the 1%. Nor can she be bought or will she be flying in any jets for free. She is, however, the mayor and must put the city before any of her personal feelings. Mayor Wilson is working 10 to 16 hour days, sometimes 7 days a week, while the council is part time. The mayor is also grossly underpaid and the council has done nothing to try and bring that salary to a โ€œfairโ€ amount.

HELP – FAIRNESS IS KILLING US

The Fairhope City Council is using the Baldwin County Political Dictionaryโ€™s definition for โ€œFairnessโ€. First, the council implements a hiring freeze to punish the mayor for firing two employees. Then they side with the developer…

Please do not forget Mayor Kant did not participate in any transition nor did he attend the swearing in ceremonies. In fact he made it as difficult as possible.

Is the Ripp Report giving up on exposing corruption in Baldwin County and Fairhope? You gotta be kidding, with such a target rich environment of corruption, I think not.

Peace breaks out at Fairhope council meeting – Lagniappe Mobile

Mayor Karin Wilson and the Fairhope City Council on Monday night proved they can play nicely together. After months of increasingly contentious and divisive interaction that had citizens demanding the council and mayor figure out how to get along and work together, at least some of them agreed to try. On Saturday, Wilson invited City โ€ฆ

โ€œThe council approved $32,510.97 in payments to Walcott, Adams, Verneuille Architects for exterior repairs and maintenance on the Fairhope Public Library, although no paperwork could be found showing the work had been authorized.

The work took place during the administration former of Mayor Tim Kant. The city received bills for the work, but current city staffers could not find evidence of a contract or any other form of agreement between Kant, the city and the firm.

The council voted to pay the bills, with Burrell saying however the authorization was handled, it seemed clear the work was actually performed. The 10-year-old library building has been plagued with problems, including a leaking roof.โ€

The architects discounted the bill by 10,000 dollars. So the total was close to 45,000 dollars.

This was a handshake deal between the former Mayor Kant and the architects while Mr Burrell was council president and Mr Boone was on council. Many people got handshakes from Mayor Kant. Some got paid and some got spit. What did Boone and Burrell have to say to Mayor Kant about his handshake deal? Not a damn word. The airport scandal, triangle lawsuit, and the โ€œgiftโ€ were all on their watch. They elected to put 13 million dollars into a sewer plant that still dumps processed sewage in the bay while neglecting sewerage infrastructure. The airport scandal and Mr. Booneโ€™s multiple conflicts of interest will come back to haunt them.

The consensuses of the present council is that they cannot investigate themselves. That the Ethics Commission has that responsibility. Is that transparency or accountability? However, they are also ignoring the ethics commission directive that requires the council to inform the commission of wrong doing.

The county commission, mid-term elections, Baldwin County Cottage Industry of Divorce, municipal corruption, and many other subjects and elected officials will be featured on the Ripp Report this year.

The Ripp Report has been around longer than any elected official holding office today in Fairhope and we most likely will be here when they are gone.

    Give Jack and Boone hell!
    They deserve to squirm.

Just state facts for all the elected officials if you want credibility – if not – this report will be known for what it always been known for – PROPAGANDA! Get credible, become relevant, point out the mayor’s misdeeds instead of TRYING to protect her!

This is an opinion blog. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. At least Paul puts his name on it.

The people always complaining about the mayor are trying to distract from the real issues.

The reason the Ripp Report has been around longer than any elected official is because the Ripp Report is self-appointed.

How do we know that Burrell and Boone won’t be indicted for their crimes related to the quid pro quo airport deal and the Corte stinker on Fly Creek?

I heard down at the coffee loft that Burrell is definitely running for Mayor.

Idle minds create gossip! It appears someone is trying to lay out a case to try and show Jack is blocking the mayor so he can run! Please, this is reverse psychology 101.

Jack would not want to be Mayor
        No power
        You obviously don’t know JACK

Just follow the money. Jack will do what Catalyst and his handlers tell him. He is a mouse. You don’t know Jack is right. Wake up Fairhope. We will soon be a throw away community and property values will plummet.

        • Anonymous | May 19, 2017 at 1:58 am |

You don’t know Jack. He says he wants to be mayor all the time. The mayor runs the city. Plenty of power.

So we just forget about the apartment fiasco? The double signature and the gifting of the property to shift liability on the city? Who are these idiots supporting boone and burrell? Beavis and Butthead are running fairhope into the ground. We have to fix the sewer plant and the roads before we keep letting new peeps in. It takes over 25 minutes to get to I ten from Fairhope.

AND your point is? Are you one of the families that have lived here for generations? Or are you one of those that is de-novo families that want to shut the door behind themselves once the arrive.

There are a lot of folks that support Boone and Burell, so much ss that Jack received more votes than the mayor.

Most need to come to the understanding that there is a council for a reason, think about it for a minute if the mayor could do everything she wanted this city could possible change total direction every four years! Each time a new mayor was elected then the city change direction.

So you like to name call Kevin and Jack, but if someone calls the mayor Karzy Karin then everyone blows up. Why is it okay to insult these fellows and yet it is sexism to insult the mayor?

I really don’t think folks fully understand the real issues the city faces, even the mayor does not know the issues, she thinks she knows but doesn’t read the ordinances about impact fees! She needs to become more intelligently curious, she is social, not intelligently curious.

Jack Burrell did not run against the Mayor. He ran against someone who had only recently moved here and was rumored to have been financed by Tim Kant. To state that Burrell received more votes than Wilson is similar to saying that the Giants scored more points than the Saints when they were not playing against each other. Jack Burrell was the first who stated this and he became the joke of Fairhope…….is that you, Jack?

And just what does how long you have lived in Baldwin County or Fairhope have to do with anything. Would you please inform all how long one must live in Baldwin Co. before he/she is able to offer an opinion or suggestion. It appears the various political and business interests are encouraging growth and you can’t have growth without new people. I suppose newcomers are to just move here, spend money and keep their mouth shut. Sounds like a plan by the Good Ole Boys.

The focus should be on the”apartments” and the illegal activities regarding the “airport”

The employment issues should have a protocol that everyone is familiar with. This isn’t the first time positions have been filled. Is it?

  6. Anonymous | May 13, 2017 at 7:34 am |

You appear to be blinded by anger and being a SORE LOSER

    Keep on LOLing!!!

Is she the only business in Fairhope that gets free wifi? I have noticed that it seldom works anyplace downtown. Does Panini Pete have to pay for his? This is HUGE if the bookstore is the only place that gets it for free. Please provide more details! I have had a tough time logging in to it at the Local and at Greers……..who knew that the Mayor was stealing it for herself??????

So can anyone tell us what the exterior repairs were that the architects did at the library? $45,000.00 worth? Maybe they will donate a cherry picker to the library so employees can change the light bulbs when they burn out. Talk about poor design for a public library.

  8. Anonymous | May 14, 2017 at 10:51 am |

You are comparing helicopter ride from a non profit organization to a ride in a jet from a businessman. There’s an obvious difference or should I explain further? Also, the PUBLIC is allowed to use the PUBLIC wifi. These aren’t great arguments and not worth getting upset about.

    • Anonymous | May 14, 2017 at 5:45 pm |

I’m not 100% familiar. Fill me in. Who’s plane was it? Were they involved in that bidding process that seems awfully suspect? That’s important because the airport serves few and takes up much of the budget. Do medical helicopters do something to that effect? Is there some medical helicopter investigation you have going? The Ripp Report doesn’t seem to be preventing you from posting it.

To qualify for mayor Jack will have to escape two investigations. One on the airport authority misdeeds (bid-rigging). This is an ongoing investigation by the Ethics Commission and the AG’s office…which no longer has Big Luther…the other investigation is federal, and it involves much more that has yet to come to light (think Kant). Karin Wilson is the Donald Trump of Fairhope and Paul Ripp is the Julian Assange (wikileaks). Hold on to your jewels folks it’s gonna get real. Soon. Stay tuned!

    • Anonymous | May 17, 2017 at 8:16 am |

Following your premise Kant is Obama Wilson being treated like Trump. My question is….. who are Boone and Burrell??

      I have to know!

  10. Melvin Beam | May 20, 2017 at 1:48 pm |

You stated tat the Ethics Commission has the responsibility to investigate? What a joke! The Ethics Commission cannot handle the load it has and it just jettisons complaints when it gets too many
