Get down on your knees and pray for the folks in Texas and Louisiana. Thousands of people lost everything and many more thousands will be affected by the devastating effects of flood water.

Please explore a way that you may contribute to those in desperate need of help. Many agencies, churches and organizations will be formed throughout Baldwin County that will be sending different items to storm victims. The Red Cross is the best agency to contribute cash, check, credit cards or money orders. The magnitude of the storm and amount of damage caused by flooding will literally take years to repair and their will be those who have no resources to put their lives back together, they have lost everything and are dependent on help.

If you missed the last council meeting in Fairhope here is the highlight:

This is Jack Burrell hard at work as President of the city council denying a citizen the Freedom Of Speech our US constitution guarantees:

The latest move by Burrell to deny free speech may be the last straw for his support group Catalyst.

Today Mr Scott Boone, the Catalyst King, was in Orange Beach for a political rubbing of shoulders. He was asked if Catalyst would be supporting Burrell for Mayor in 2020, he said most likely not, no way. Catalyst threw Pittman under the bus and now his bible buddy gets run over. Catalyst will be supporting faux candidates for the mid term elections and supporting the re election of the county commission and Mr Elliott who will be seeking Pittman’s seat. If it’s Catalyst can it.

Wonderful Wednesday:

Fairhope is at a crossroads and if the community allows Council President Jack Burrell to ban people from speaking during the city council meetings, at public participation, then we have chosen the…

had a very interesting comment which we have heard once before:

Well Well Well What could they be discussing?????? or leaking???????

  1. What a shame the person who saw the three amigos pow-wowing didn’t stop by and ask for a group selfie so we could have all enjoyed and shared it on FB.

And to prove it actually happened. Because it didn’t. But nice try.

      • Shut up Truth Teller or stick to the subject. Truth my ass. Thought we got rid of you one time already? We will!

        • Truth Teller | September 3, 2017 at 7:19 pm |

Oh, right! Y’all are a bunch of free speech hypocrites over here. Ripp got banned! Council are Nazis! (Disgusting comment btw) but Jester and I are persona non grata here. Don’t like facts around here, just fiction.

          • Truth Teller, don’t you have a place where you like to be. I guess not. Trolling the Ripp Report is about as much attention as you get. Okay come on Truth Teller. I feel sorry for you anyway.

It would be great to think that Boone & Burrell were enlisting the assistance of media(?) with getting the word out about the state of our city utilities now that they have finally been assessed to be in such horrible condition. And, if I were a ‘reporter’, I would certainly be asking those questions and trying to write a good piece of journalism exploring how this happened and who was not doing his job when Fairhope fell apart.
As a side note, however one feels about Mayor Wilson, everyone should be grateful that she was elected. Without her quest to bring these issues out to the public, it is frightening to imagine what the utility system would be like in 4 years (if it still worked at all). I thought Brown was a good addition to the council but he is rotten to the core if he is working with Kant and Burrell to bury the sewer issues so that they all still look good.

So how much money will Fairhope have to pay Ripp for Jack being a complete psycopath?

    • Anonymous 1970 | September 3, 2017 at 6:54 pm |

Plenty I don’t like about Karin but she has been steadfast in sounding the alarm about infrastructure and the first to raise it to its proper priority. After the recent presentation it is very clear dramatic action needs to start soon. I support a decisive, yes expensive, approach to include a second sewer plant. Another thing Karin did well was to get the right people running utilities and planning. It offsets a lot of screw ups. If she will just bug out re: the marina I would be happier still.

  3. Jack Burrell is nothing more than a Nazi. What does that make all of you Fairhope Councilmen for letting him act this way for the past 8 months or more?

Wake up people!! Brown is a builder and developer! If you think he will ever side with anyone other than the developers and actually consider what is best for our town then you are CRAZY. When are the citizens of Fairhope going to wise up to what is going on right now in this town and those we have elected to run it? They are all acting like middle school children on the playground trying to get their way and pointing the finger at someone else. This is NOT TAKING care of business. Every day that we waste on this insane behavior is not improving our sewer or any infrastructure needs. They are all wasting our time and money . People should storm the next Council Meeting and all demand to take three minutes at the end to state your concerns about what is going on in our city government. While your at the podium tell Burrell he can take his toys and his temper and go home. Tell the others that we will no longer accept them sitting through that type of behavior that Burrell displayed at the last Council Meeting and not speaking up. We have two attorneys sitting up there and They might as well have been bumps on a log. If Brown sat there with a smirk on his face while that display was going on then everyone should have been outraged. WE ARE DERSERVING OF WHAT WE ARE PRESENTLY GETTING!

  5. Maybe Jack is no longer the catalyst candudate for mayor? My guess is Conyers. Jay is too light in the loafers like Kant was for sure. Brown is Jester. Boone is up Burrells bung.

    • Conyers makes more as a banker than the mayor. Ditto for all the others. None of them will run for mayor. Love her or hate her Mayor Karin will probably not even have a serious challenge. Question is, who has the moxie to challenge Burrell ? I bet he does not have a serious challenger. My guess is Conyers makes 110, Burrell 140, and the other 3 are self employed but I bet they are all making more than Burrell. As long as we are building out every square inch of Fairhope Brown and Boone will be making out. I have always felt they have a built in bias which contrasts with what the majority of the community wants now. Not inherently bad, but probably not what we need for the foreseeable future.

      • Georgia Orwell | September 3, 2017 at 10:09 pm |

The Mayor makes nothing…..maybe $30,000 per year. The reason that Kant loved being mayor was that he appointed himself ‘Superintendent of Utilities’ which paid him another 60 or 90k per year, in addition to the gifts that he received for ‘looking the other way & selling out the city’. The funniest thing is that now, even the political establishment, has now thrown Kant, Burrell and Pittman under the bus for criminal behavior. Voters are waking up; even Catalyst deemed Trip Pittman the worst person on the planet (not a direct quote, but the idea was transmitted totally)!
We need to find out where the $13 million in sewer system improvements were allocated because we know now that our system cannot even handle the current load!
Color me Disgusted with City Council (Kant & Burrell, not Wilson).

        • Anonymous 1970 | September 4, 2017 at 8:24 pm |

I still don’t think Jack is a crook. I know he never read about Andrew Carnegie, and I hope he throws an olive branch to Ripster (anyone taking odds) next meeting. I am now getting troubled about how we got in this utility mess. First, Kant should have appointed someone who could do the job. He clearly didn’t. The soccer fields I lay at his feet as well as Burrell and the rest of the last council. First, it’s money really needed for infrastructure. Second, we have a facility worth a million bucks. Whether it was stolen or just pee peed away, it is a boondoggle. So I am putting a good part of this mess on the previous council president and some on Kant and some on the other council people. It is a major strike against Jack though. His plusses are getting outweighed by his minuses.

  6. Can someone explain to me how lawsuits against the City actually work? I am interested in the sequence of events like Mr. Ripp’s claim, and the three claims from the disgruntled former and present employees against Mayor Wilson. Who determines the validity of the claim? The City’s attorney(s)? Personal attorneys? Obviously if a claim then becomes a lawsuit and goes to trial, depending on the outcome who pays the claim? The City? Individuals? The City’s insurance company? What if the City’s insurance company denies the claim…then who pays?

Fairhope, once the crown jewell of Baldwin County, is falling victim to the greed of a few people who have moved in here and taken over. We are to blame for allowing them to ruin our city. Look at the background of our city and county officials. You will see a trend

  8. I am glad someone brought up the salaries of the shitty councilmen. It’s not their salaries…it’s the under the table kickbacks that are rampant in this corrupt government. I know no one likes to talk about it but Kant and Nix rigged all elections for decades.

They didn’t do it for their health and peace of mind.
