Baldwin County Commissioners have their Mega “dump” Site.

Mid term elections will again bring up all the advantages of the Baldwin County Mega site. Politicians, county commissioners and their hacks, all on board with the annual round of promises that the…

Fairhope’s Mega-Site is the Triangle property and just like the County’s Mega-Site, politicians have saddled the tax payers with the debt while satisfying a few good ole boys and select developers.

Liar Liar pants on fire, leading the charge to keep the triangle from being developed is Councilman Burrell and Boone. They are lying through their teeth to the entire community now and have been for 6 years about the “settlement” vs. Park. They did have the support of the city hired attorneys who supported the lies that later came to the surface, after 3 million in legal fees.

Mr. Burrell and Boone want you to believe it was a voluntary purchase for a City Park, that is absolutely false. They want to declare the property as a conservation easement, insuring nothing can be built on the property.

Fairhope settles with former insurer over ‘Dyas Triangle’ legal fees – Lagniappe Mobile

Four years and $1.6 million later, the city of Fairhope reached a settlement agreement Nov. 7 with the Alabama Municipal Insurance Corporation (AMIC) over the reimbursement of attorneys fees charged to litigate a lawsuit over a rejected retail development. Mayor Tim Kant said the tentative settlement will leave the city on the hook for $500,000, …

The lawsuit settlement cost the City 11.25 million dollars, 3 million in attorney fees, for attorneys who promised us that the City would pay no attorney fees and would win the lawsuit. Wrong on both counts.

The purchase also had some tax incentives favoring the sellers. The estimated value, today, is somewhere between 16 and 20 million dollars. The last City council, Burrell and Boone, settled the lawsuit without any public participation, in fact they went to great length, with Mayor Kant, to keep the public in the dark.

The next thing to happen was Mayor Kant along with his water carriers, Burrell and Boone, tried to prove that the property was a park. They came up with a plan that was so bad that the first arrow never was released.

This Jewell of a project would have a price tag of 16 to 20 million in land cost and 2 million for development, 22 Million for an Archery Range, walking trail and what Kant called a “Arbortorium.”

Burrell and Boone want to have a City Council vote, asap, before any comprehensive plan of Fairhope. This should not happen, without a referendum or being vetted through public participation while developing a current and citizen approved Comprehensive plan.

Mayor Wilson worked for the last 18 months for the 17.2 million the city got from BP Restore funds. The 650,000 dollars for a Comprehensive Plan must include the Triangle property.

Fairhope you have a decision; Let Burrell and Boone, and most likely the Jester Brown, make a 20 million dollar decision for you or use the $650,000 Comprehensive Plan, that will include public participation, in determining the best use of the property for the community.

  1. I would not be surprised if they put another set of apartments on the Triangle.

  2. I know the answer but I’d like you to ask. Specifically where did the cash come from to purchase this land?

  3. Hammer Time | March 30, 2018 at 6:14 pm |

More dumb totally false information from this MR. Ripp dude. The purchase of the property gaurantees that we will one day have a beautiful city owned developement of some type.To be used by all our citizens for generations to come. The alternative would have been some undesirable development that would have been nothing but profit based. The total amount spent by the city to aquire the property was well worth every dollar regardless of the price. Once developed I hope they require a city sticker to utilize the property just like the beach. We won’t have to see goofy rowdy Ripp because he doesn’t live in our beautiful city.

All thanks to our wonderful former Mayor Mr. Tim Kant.

    • The Ripp Report | March 30, 2018 at 6:53 pm |

Hammer Time or just hammered, can you not read? I live in Fairhope

      • I look at it this way. We have the land which we overpaid for but I think it was unwise, not fraudulent. I think we should immediately prevent any development and then decide later exactly how to handle the land. The land will be the same. If you leave it alone I promise it will still be there next year. It does sound like there should have been controlled burning and we should have been doing that. Mr Dyas knows as much about that stuff as anyone. I personally think it should be either unblemished or have very limited trail access. As long as you leave it be we don’t need to rush. On the other hand this has gone on far too long and something needs to be decided sooner rather than later.

Whether or not anything criminal happened the truth is we paid way too much for the soccer field, this land, and too much for the land near the airport. Stupid is almost as bad as criminal. Just because some appraiser affixes a ridiculous price to a property doesn’t make it worth it.

Well stated. However, Fairhope taxpayers need to wake up to the fraud and/or ignorance of our coin-operated Council.

        • New Fairhopian | March 30, 2018 at 8:58 pm |

Another Catalyst flunky trying to justify their evil ways. Even their conscious catches up with them and keeps them from sleeping st night. You see, when you let growth get out of hand you bring in people that do not agree with you. This is what you have done. Now face the fruition of yurt out of control growth. Like a cancer your Catalyst body is infected.

      • I thought High Risge Road had not been annexed in. Has it?

      • Do you in fact live in Fairhope? Yes or no.

        • He would live in Fairhope but the Council
will not annex his part of town because they would not want to dilute the vote- just like they keep the areas south of the hospital from entering in the city. You guys are so predictable and we now have your number. You are losing power and you are twisting like the worms you really are. We are laughing at your desperate attempts to hold on you your repressive power.

          Ripp is Fairhope.
          Get over it goob

      • Hammered like Burrell.

      • No, Paul, you do not live in Fairhope. You live in the Fairhope Police Jurisdiction and you do not vote in any city elections or do you pay the full tax that other Fairhopian’s pay.
You claim to state fact, you need to set the record straight that you do not live in Fairhope.

        • The Ripp Report | March 31, 2018 at 6:55 am |

Fairhope City Limits has a population close to 20,000 Fairhope “outside folks” but still called Fairhope and controlled by Fairhope city, without the ability to vote, has 20,000. I am an Outside person however my office is 3 feet from the city limits. What a ridiculous argument, must be Catalyst talking.

          • By your logic, if you live 3 feet from the Florida line and you are in Alabama, you are not taxed by Alabama? Either you live in Fairhope or you do not live in Fairhope. Pretty simple question and should be a pretty simple answer. If all of your children went to Fairhope schools, and your grandchildren go to Fairhope schools then you are the one the mayor condemns for not paying enough taxes, right? You use Fairhope assets but do not pay your share of taxes!

            • Soccerkidsshamed | March 31, 2018 at 6:04 pm |

Dude lives in Alabama not Florida.

              • Duh…The “dude” lives in Fairhope Police Jurisdiction and not Fairhope. That is my point, you can live 2-inches from the Fairhope City Limit line but you are still not in Fairhope.

            • The Ripp Report | April 2, 2018 at 6:08 am |

Oh! you are so right and that brings up annexation, to bring those property’s into the city limits. At the same time, or before, the city needs to go to districts and not a council at large that has no accountability. Want to know why I am not in the city? Because the former Mayor of Fairhope and the local good ole boys did not want the black community in the city limits. That is a fact Jack. To achieve that the city took the position not to annex anyone, that is why Fairhope has all these pockets of land that SHOULD be in the city. Another fact is that the only piece of property in Fairhope to be, legislatively, forced into the city limits was Wal Mart. That was after the former mayor lost about 8 million in taxes by not inviting Wal Mart in , once it was determined Fairhope could not stop Wal Mart location, the city’s position at the time.Annexation and Districts will come up soon and watch the good ole boys and Catalyst push back on both.I look forward to both issues coming forward, being annexed, and represented by a specific representative. Then I can VOTE and your argument will be moot.

              • I do not care why you are not in the city, save that story for someone that cares. I just want you to state the facts and answer a simple question. You did that, finally, and as you have stated, you are not a Fairhope citizen, and you do not vote! Good Day.

                • “State the facts and answer a simple question”….
                  Are you a lawyer?
                  The facts are :
Ripp lives by the fire station on Parker Road( unusual placement), the Publix ( there’s a story behind this one too), the approved fly creek apartments, the FEMA funded replacment of a supposed sewer pipe failure in 2014 and the contaminated fly creek but yet you say he doesn’t deserve to be called a Fairhope citizen?

We need districts, annexation, diversification and advocation for Fairhope!!

                  • Indeed, Ripp does not vote, does not pay Fairhope taxes nor can he hold any elected office, but Ripp always states that he just tells the facts, but as usual, he is causing trouble in a place where he does not live. He wants to sue, he supports the mayor and her high budgets but he does not pay a dime in Fairhope City taxes.

                • JTS – I consider Ripp more a citizen of Fairhope than most voters because he stays engaged and looks out for what is good for Fairhope citizens. Why are you spending your time on commenting here? Obviously he has struck a nerve with you or you somehow feel threatened by what he says.

What do you think Ripp’s agenda is? He isn’t getting paid to write for a newspaper that sells ads like fake GCN/Courier. People read what he has to say because he isn’t a politician, he’s not getting paid to do this and he keeps citizens up to date on corruption in Fairhope and Baldwin Co. The only people who have a problem with Ripp are special interests.

  5. Hammer Time | March 30, 2018 at 10:07 pm |

He does not live in the city and never has. Unless they annexed his property in the last year. Which they haven’t he is an outsider always trying to start problems. People that know him knows he’s just a silly brainless person. If you’ve never met him when you do it won’t take long to figure it out. His brainless activities have never been proven no one has ever been indited and or convicted. All he ever does is slander good people and his day is coming soon.

    • Burrell. Boone.

      • I am HERE. You need to get a life. The Airport will be a profit center for the city for many years. We hope to make an announcement soon. I ask Mr Ripp to give credit when the news of the deal is made public.

        • Hey Catalyst, by the time you and your political group make that announcement, many of your cronies and co/conspirators will be voted out of office. Yiu guys don’t get it: when you overbuild and overcrowd the county then you fill it with people that vote you out.
When you guys target your next area to trash try to get people that will not vote you out.

        • The Ripp Report | April 2, 2018 at 6:21 am |

You can be sure we will watch and investigate anything going on at Jack Burrell Airport. Burrell has represented the Airport, before the city interests. He has fought tooth and nail to maintain control of the Airport Board and keep the city at a arms length away. The 1% at the Airport
have Jack in their pocket. His involvement in the Airport scandal is not over.
You don’t know Jack, better watch him very close, especially when it comes to the Airport.

Notice how this article was originally about the “Triangle” and has turned into a Catalyst post? Good.
People are becoming aware of Catalyst and now want to know more and more of how their county has been stolen from them.
We must demand an accounting from our candidates that are owned by Catalyst why they have turned to the dark side
If it was not for Ripp, many would have been aware if this group that hides in the dark and manipulates the elections in the county

    • Yaya sistahood | April 1, 2018 at 6:52 pm |

Boones son is the head of catalyst. He too has a monster truck with illegal tint.

  13. How can one learn about the history of this Catalyst group? How long have they been in business?

    • Anonymous | April 1, 2018 at 4:42 pm |

Since we are getting off subject. This is completely true at the national level and true much of the time at the state level. Politicians receive too much in the way of perks and salary. How many jobs are there where a lot of people are spending money to get the job and fighting to keep,it.? You can pay these people a lot less and still get plenty of people wanting the job. Why do so many want to be county commissioners ? That also kinda works for city employees. The only jobs that folks aren’t hankering to get are the heavy equipment operators because a good operator can make lots more privately. The paper pusher jobs are all full. They get paid too much.

      • Spanish Fort | April 1, 2018 at 5:05 pm |

Also these politicians get in office to pass laws and get their subdivisions and real estate deals through. Just look that since this bunch got on the Commission and the local city offices then the overdevelopment happened. Dorsey, Haygood, Boone, Burrell, Elliott, and Coleman are examples. They are all developers. Not just paper pushers but developers of this he rabid type

  14. Folks in Fairhope are waking up…finally…to a nightmare.

    • Old Timer | April 1, 2018 at 8:30 pm |

You can thank the council for this. They were so busy trying to please the Good Ole Boys. When the over building collapses the infrastructure then I hope these guys are prosecuted and barred from ever doing what they have done.
As for the rest of the county candidates they need to know the people are on to them.
It use to be you guys won 100 percent of your rigged elections. Paul Ripp showed us that we do not have to tolerate your crookedness.

      • Georgia Orwell | April 1, 2018 at 9:02 pm |

    • Georgia Orwell | April 1, 2018 at 9:00 pm |

Actually, they are not! The big money in Fairhope believes that Mayor Wilson is a criminal and that Burrell, Boone and (to a lesser extent Brown because he is an idiot) are protecting their city! What are these people drinking!

      • She Keeps Bees | April 1, 2018 at 10:56 pm |

Anyone that believes the Council or Mayor alone is entirely at fault for the pathetic leadership of this city simply is biased and has no real interest in holding the entire city administration (Mayor & Council) accountable for the exigent issues facing this city. The mayor and council are good people and are taking actions they believe are in the best interest of the city. They have all made poor and inexcusable decisions, but none are corrupt as some would suggest. Overall, they (The Six) have miserable failed to deliver any meaningful leadership. Both are at fault. The only hope for the remainder of this term is for the people of this city to abandon the blatant and unabashed partisanship and hold all of these officials responsible. On the current topic, the Dyas Triangle, it should be designated for public parklands, not commercialized and developed.

        • Yaya sistahood | April 2, 2018 at 4:34 am |

Boone and burrell and brown are corrupt.

        • The Ripp Report | April 2, 2018 at 6:33 am |

Your position would be a park before repairing the infrastructure. That has been the mindset of previous Mayor and council, that is why we have a 30 million dollar problem. Mayor Wilson has completed all the sewer and infrastructure studies, she has secured 10.8 million for sewer infrastructure. The Mayor and superintendents have also informed the council of the serious situation, the council is dragging it’s feet on sewer infrastructure but pushing a park,???. Bottom line is that the triangle, as well as, Districts and Annexation should be decided by city referendum.

        • What specifically do you think the mayor has done? Balancing the bisget, getting millions for the city and bringing in a plan.

  15. This site is a public service.

It will be another two years before we can sweep these guys out. Until then, we can sweep out the candidates this June that are Catalyst. This will indicate to the Good Ole Boys that we know them.
What is even more, sweeping out the Catalyst folks at the county level will send a message to the council that the voters elected Karin and she needs to be left alone – or they will be sept out too.

      • Boone brown and burrell were supported by Ripp? Huh?

        • BigRippFan | April 2, 2018 at 4:57 pm |

I am saying that tve council will be swept out if they don’t change their behavior. I respect our mayor and donot appreciate the council not supporting her
They can at least show her some courtesy but hate the fact that she beat Kant
