The Fairhope Waterfront project started off with, City Council approval, of $500,000.00 for engineering and conceptual plans based on community input. Now the Council is saying this is the Mayor’s plan. Nothing could be further from the truth, 493 people filled out the questionnaire and dozens attended numerous meetings, this is the citizens plan.

The latest article in Lagniappe has the Mayor “citing concerns from citizens who were unfamiliar with the two year old proposal, until recently”. You would never hear the CATALYST council “willing to extend public participation so the whole community had the opportunity to speak”. NEVER.

Fairhope reopening public participation on proposed park project

{This article has a paywall, you can get a free copy at newsstands}

Today Goodwyn Mills & Cawood held a press conference, at Fairhope City Hall, in order to dispel the numerous misconceptions that are being promoted through social media or the CATALYST Council. The greater majority of negative comments are coming from people who did not attend the meetings and appear to have a political agenda.

CATALYST politicians and their advocates wish to make this issue a political tool for the upcoming election and care less about the citizens of the community. The project is a 6.2 million dollar grant from BP, Fairhope is the only municipality on the Eastern Shores to be awarded such a grant. This will be the first major project on Fairhope’s Waterfront in 50 years.

The same CATALYST Council is now playing games with the Waterfront project. The CATALYST Council spent $2,650,000 for recreation property, without any public participation. Now they want to some how blame the Mayor and tank a $6,200,000 grant? The CATALYST council has run rouge for 4 years. They all need to be replaced.

Please watch the video provided by Fairhope Now. What ever your views, please attend the meetings and be well informed before passing judgment on rumors and political antics.

    Dear Ripp,
We know the council set this up to trap Mayor Wilson.
The council has played the people of Fairhope in order to line their pockets Karin is a good person and the council
    members are cads
Is anyone going to run against the current crooked council?

  2. Truth hurts | June 26, 2020 at 9:40 pm |

Karen held the plans back and did not share with anyone especially Council and the public. This is her plan no doubt. Counsel approved the funding only and she laid a big turd. What a cluster. Typical of her time in office. She is terrible.

    • Francis Ripp | June 29, 2020 at 9:48 am |

No one held a damn thing back where the hell were you at the meetings

    • Anonymous | July 1, 2020 at 11:00 pm |

Council ignored the meetings planned for them. Now they’re sitting back and contributing to the rumors.

The plan has been in newsletters, state of the city on 2019 and 2020 and the mayor has been talking about this opportunity since 2017.

It is council who holds back plans behind closed doors. Don’t confuse the way they handle communication with someone who has been very open.

  3. Anonymous | June 26, 2020 at 9:43 pm |

Karen is an idiot. Trying to blame council for her screw-up shows her ignorance even more. Notice how she is the only one back peddling on the bluff destruction proposal. Her days are numbered.

    • Francis Ripp | June 29, 2020 at 9:49 am |

I can tell you do not know a damn thing about what is happening

      • Joshua Wolff | June 29, 2020 at 10:38 am |

Critics should not hide behind their anonymity. Do not be afraid. I’m not. The uninformed should keep their mouths shut and their thumbs idle.

        • Anonymous | June 30, 2020 at 4:08 pm |

Many of us love Karin. I cannot blame you for getting worked up but keep it in perspective. Karin’s election back in 2016 rocked the good ole boys and they are hurting.

  4. Anonymous | June 27, 2020 at 7:52 am |

Boy the Catalysts smell blood in the water. A bit different from smelling sewage in the water because they commanded their politicians to bios too many houses
We know the council wanted to destroy the bluffs and then pinned it on Karin when Lagniappe exposed it
Catalysts On the Council Know will lie because they have no morals

  5. Uncle Henry | June 27, 2020 at 9:32 am |

These council clods paid 2.6 million for farmland. They claimed it would be a park. Leased to a farmer for a few hundred bucks per month. Scam Central.

  6. I hope they leave the pier alone.

    • Francis Ripp | June 30, 2020 at 7:54 am |

Cosmetic improvements are planned no major alterations

      • Anonymous | June 30, 2020 at 4:09 pm |

I have seen the proposal. Only one pine will have to be removed for ADA sidewalk. In the end, the park will be less asphalt then present.

  7. Jeremy Pivem | June 28, 2020 at 10:03 pm |

Why would anyone with kids vote for this council?
The schools are gonna be worse than the bay.
    Full of sh*t!!!

  8. Anonymous | June 29, 2020 at 8:06 pm |

The bluffs and trees need to stay, no one wants them changed. The survey was vague and there was not a question on it like-Do you want the bluffs destroyed?

The pier and seawall should be upgraded. The marina should be upgraded. The restaurant should be upgraded with covered outdoor seating, more outdoor feel. Boat up experience. That will be the best bang for our bucks.

    • Francis Ripp | June 30, 2020 at 7:53 am |

You do realize that the “bluff” is on the south side and is covered with kudzu. Very little trees are to be removed and bulldozing the bluff is total fiction. Please research the plan and attend the next meeting. This plan also allows people with disabilities, like veterans, to enjoy the park. It also displaces parking and adds a ton of common space areas for citizens.

Karin has been bullied by the beta males that make up the council for almost 4 years. She has proven that she is tougher than all of these beta males. She must threaten any minuscule bit of manhood they have.
The council has shown they are afraid of her.
She reminds me of Margaret Thatcher

  10. Trent Stapleton, IV | June 30, 2020 at 1:12 pm |

    Jay is a bad attorney.
    Lacks basic legal skills.

  11. Burrell Boone, Brown, Conyers, and Robinson wanted the Pier because their Catalyst Controllers told them to want it. Now that it has blown up, they are running like scalded dogs
I cannot wait until they are flushed out of office like the sewage they are

  12. Trump4USA | July 1, 2020 at 5:45 am |

I have two young kids in Fairhope schools, ages 3 and 5. I know time flies but these kids are gonna graduate in the classes of 2033 and 2035. What high school will they graduate from?

You see. Fairhope is growing so fast it will soon need a new high school. The growth must stop.

    This is nuts!!!

    • Catalyst is Evil | July 1, 2020 at 1:23 pm |

Probably a school by the name of “East Fairhope High School.”
The growth will not stop until so many houses are built that the glut of houses will cause a crash in prices, a rise in crime, gridlocked traffic, and an increase in taxes.
Then the developers who have funded the campaigns of the politicians will take their money and go off to another area to destroy
Fairhope’s days of a charming town are numbered. It is too far gone. This placed has been lid to ruins due to the developers and their puppet politicians
Ask a council member if they can say no to a new subdivision or a strip mall. The politicians cannot because they are owned by Catalyst and Catalyst’s money come from the developers
Notice how the Catalyst group is silent? They know what they are doing and they don’t care

    • Anonymous | July 1, 2020 at 2:56 pm |

I thought we elected a mayor who would control this growth

  13. Angel Remembered | July 1, 2020 at 6:46 pm |

New High School. New form of gov’t. New moratorium on growth.
New city council would be the first thing it needs.

  14. Kevin Boone and I use to hang out when we were kids. I can remember him tellIng me that his Pop was vehemently against building the current pier. He thought it was a waste of money, the
Old wooden pier that was leaning at 24 degree angle with no railings was good enough.

  15. I sure hope so tough women like Karin run. The men in this town are drunks, pedos and thieves. At least the council is. Seriously we need some margaret thatcher types to run.
