Fairhope City Council

Start at minute 34. Click here to skip to minute 34 on youtube.com

The council denies they knew anything about Robert Brown purchasing his ”family” property July 21 2020. Once it was made public and on the record, Council President Burrell got all tongue tied trying to defend his railroad nomination process. He contradicts himself numerous times and ends up with one of his episodes of gibberish.

Without any public participation the Fairhope City Council President, Jack Burrell, decided who would be the next councilperson and publicly declared that, “I made the decision.”

The reason for no public participation was so there would be no objections, questions or facts discussed in public.

The decision to “select”, Jay Robinson was made well before Brown quit.

After the oath of office and no public participation, Council person Cory Martin, new to the council, said during council comments, that he “apologized for the lack of public participation.” What the council did was not illegal; however, it was not ethical at all. The selection of Robinson should be a red flag as to how this council operates.

They take their orders from special interests while suppressing free speech and public participation. Burrell is well known for his denying the public the ability to speak, that was confirmed in Federal Court, Jay Robinson a lawyer was on the council at the time, and said nothing.

This cost the city thousands of dollars.

The council seat in question, pays $11,500 a year but the cherry on top is full family insurance, something no employees have. In the case of Robinson, a family of 6, the value of such insurance far exceeds the salary. It would be safe to say such insurance would be around $1000 to $1200 a month. With 42 months remaining in the term that would be $40,000 plus. That would make the council seat have a value of around $80,000 to $100,000 dollars. Nice raise for a family of 6. The council did not want to discuss that. Another fact is Jay Robinson and his wife and the Mayor are long time best friends, something else the council did not want to discuss. I guess it is all in who you know and how far you can bend over. The hell with any conflict of interest and a few pesky lies.

Jay Robinson appointed to Fairhope City Council

“In July of 2020, there was a lot going on. We were in the middle of a pandemic and my wife was pregnant with our fourth child and my wife has a history of health scares. There was a lot for me to contemplate and with so many uncertainties at that time, I didn’t feel comfortable making the commitment to serve in this position. It’s been eight months since then and in that time I have a healthy and gorgeous 5-month-old girl, a healthy and happy wife, and we’ve adjusted to life as a family of six. We have a very comfortable work-family balance.” Jay Robinson, after being sworn in.

It just so happens that at the exact time Robert Brown purchases the “Family”, property, July 2020, Jay announces he is not running and offered only the generic exit explanation of “spending more time with his family”.

Now he has a bigger family but wants his old job back, without being elected!

Jay Robinson and Robert Brown Fairhope Alabama

The Fairhope Mayor Pledged to “embrace development”, with that comes special interests and they are represented by CSB, Catalyst/Scott Boone. Scott Boone’s father sits on the council as the liaison to CSB. Jay replaces Robert to insure the council has not lost a CSB vote. Jack continues to make uneducated decisions, denying public participation on important issues, manipulates the council agenda, and lying to the citizens of Fairhope.

Jack will continue to do so, as long as the citizens of Fauxhope remain living in an alternative reality.

In the next 6 months do not be surprised to see some key employees of Fairhope dismissed, fired or retired. They are in the way of special interests, CSB.

Jack is the crazy engineer on this train. He is a disgrace to the state of Mississippi! But lives in Fairhope, AL.!! He needs to go!

    • Jack ain’t going anywhere until he takes what he wants from this town. There is nothing you can do or say to stop the inevitable because the people of Fairhope are living in an alternate reality as Ripp said
Just keep the lights in the trees and flowers planted and the voters will continue to be lulled into tolerating this behavior

  2. The same people that think Jack Burrell hung the moon are the idiots who voted for him or didn’t vote at all and let him win. It’s no different than this Liberal bullshit that Biden and his gang are out there praising the latest covid stimulus plan signed into law and how they are all giddy and jumping up and down with all this stupid Democrats and liberals celebrating a bill that only has a small percentage going towards covid itself. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that just with gas prices surging the $1400 dollar stimulus check that is on the way has already been spent. With gas prices skyrocketing, which means for you people that don’t know anything about economics, this means it’s more to fill up your vehicles, more for groceries, more foe things made from petroleum, etc. etc etc! People are just plain blind or so under educated that they let these people do what they want to. It’s a shame that Biden is doing this to us but it’s a damn shame to let a local FART in OUR own city of Fairhope, do it to us who have worked so very hard to try and have a nice place for our families to live. What a disgrace and terrible example that Burrell and his dogs are setting for the younger generation!

  3. Montroseanon | March 12, 2021 at 5:02 pm |

But Jack also goes to church.
    Sorta. From what I heard.

    Should we forgive him?
This is the Christian thing to do after all!

    • I say get him the hell out of office. Maybe get him in jail
      Then definitely forgive him

  4. Jack is in it for the money. I imagine the developers are lining his pockets with gold dust.

  5. Anon FHoper | March 12, 2021 at 6:14 pm |

Keep up the exposure of these theives. They are such awful people. Selling out fairhope for a few dollars.

  6. It was all planned from the beginning. Mayor and council all in the hands of unbridled development.

  7. ColumbusFH | March 13, 2021 at 8:16 am |

Who is in charge of planning for the city of fairhope? Has anyone on staff told the council they are ruining the town? Who is in charge really now? Is Burrell a dicktator?

    • Francis Ripp | March 13, 2021 at 9:48 am |

Fairhope is run by special interest, CSB, The municipal judge, city attorney Mayor and 4 council members are all connected and support CSB, forget transparency accountability or public participation. Burrell has cost the city dearly with numerous bad decisions and his constant lying, and getting caught, only makes Fairhope look corrupt, to the core. Fairhope needs districts.

  8. Anon Daphne | March 13, 2021 at 4:59 pm |

It was once a nice little town.

  9. T, Bishop FH | March 13, 2021 at 6:38 pm |

We need a new high school. Where will it go?

    • It will go out on the east side of town next to the cookie cutter tract housing that Truland and Dr Horton threw up

    • Francis Paul Ripp | March 14, 2021 at 9:49 am |

You will soon see Burrell push for an independent school system, more taxes for a “retirement community”. The independent school issue has come up in the past 3 or 4 times and never got more than a 35% approval. It might pass this time.

  10. Dean Wooten | March 14, 2021 at 8:54 am |

Pray for cat list. Jack and the gang lost an hour of sleep last night. Up thinking about this blog I am sure of it.

  11. Why aren’t these crooks charged with corruption? Though they may own the city court, why doesn’t the circuit or feds step on?
It must be that what they do is legal after all
What do you think, Mr Ripp?

  12. Honest graft is perpetuating. The local cabal sticks together. Judges. Councils. Mayors. Etc. Etc. Ripp has exposed all of this in Fairhope.

  13. Soccermom fh proper | March 14, 2021 at 8:10 pm |

The current high school will be the old high school for minorities. Under the new plan blacks and mexicans will go exclusively to the old high school while the new school will be for white privileged. Ripp is right watch for a move to break free from bc. This will weaken the delivery of education further. Be fearful young parents. Jack Burrell will be appointing his drinking buddy as education superintendent.

    • If the people of Fairhope allow this to happen then they have themselves to blame
How a once forward thinking town became a village of sheeple disappoints me
The founders of this town worked so hard to enact a vision only to have it hijacked by a bunch of greedy developers and their henchmen who now run the council

  14. anon voter fh | March 15, 2021 at 8:17 am |

Fart Barf and Itch is corrupt. Like the council.
    Imagine a world without corruption.

  15. So Jay is the new councilperson? I didn’t hear an official on that.

  16. Fred Ainsworth II | March 15, 2021 at 4:19 pm |

There is no need for a new high school. Rumor mongering should not have a place on this municipal forum.

    • Francis Paul Ripp | March 16, 2021 at 12:30 pm |

Hide and watch those conversations are ongoing, behind closed doors, of course.

  17. Fairhopeschools | March 15, 2021 at 4:50 pm |

Fairhope elementary teacher here! Class sizes are way up!!!

    • Francis Paul Ripp | March 15, 2021 at 8:28 pm |

Next year will be far worse

    • Keep building subdivisions without impact fees are killing our infrastructure capacities
The developers keep the politicians from implementing impact fees. Existing g people paid for them but the developers are overloading them with new houses

  18. Afairhoper | March 15, 2021 at 7:13 pm |

I think karins election was rigged.

  19. Carlos McField | March 16, 2021 at 7:19 pm |

This us a juvenile, rude and contentious web page run by a grumpy old man.

    • Carlos, this website makes a good point on that the council people work for the developers
The developers are ruining this area
Uuu must be a troll on the payroll of somebody working for the cabal. If so, go and tell your bosses who you have sold your soul to that we are on to them. Afterthat go burn in hell for selling your soul

    • Hey Butthead McFeld why don’t you get your own webpage to rebut it like Chucks Cheese tried? Maybe you could find something better?

    • Francis Paul Ripp | March 18, 2021 at 9:43 am |

      Is that all ya got?

  20. Peg Leg Pete | March 17, 2021 at 7:17 am |

I think that Fairhope will soon be like Detroit Michigan. Everyone will be tired of the corruption and lost quality of life and will just up and leave their dwindling property values. No way it continues to go up. Too many negatives now. Corruption in a city government like this is a huge tell to people wanting to retire. Those that are smart that is.

  21. Fairhope is fuxxed.

  22. This council has done so much damage to this area

  23. James Collins marlow | March 18, 2021 at 2:13 pm |

I’m a dam retired government worker and I could care less about schools! I want more roads!!

    • Spanish Fort Oracle | March 18, 2021 at 5:44 pm |

We don’t need more roads – we need less people moving in the area so fast to let the infrastructure catch up.
But the politicians are owned by the home builders. The politicians collect campaign donations from the homebuilders to keep impact fees from being charged to the homebuilders.
Catalyst (now SB Consulting) vets the candidates for the homebuilders. Then, if approved the homebuilders contribute to the candidates’ campaign. Then the candidates pay Catalyst for campaigning, signs (you know, the 4X4 signs that are made of PVC piping). See how the money flows?
