ALABAMA ETHICS, A POLITICAL TOOL

In Fairhope, โ€œcome fly with meโ€ Jack Burrell is facing ethics complaints as well as Fairhope Airport Authority board member Ray Hix, Fairhope Municipal Judge Snedekerโ€™s partner. The airport authority authorized hiring an attorney to investigate those who filed the complaint. The city council has turned a blind eye to any facts or ethical violations refusing to conduct any internal investigation, despite compelling evidence of wrong doing. Instead the council members have issued false statements, โ€œThe ethics commission complaints against Airport board members have been ruled baseless.โ€ Frequent flier Jack has been assured that if his bible buddy Pittman can get away with ethics violations, he should be able to as well.

Why would the citizens of a community totally rely on a commission that has NEVER held anyone accountable in Baldwin County? It should be the responsibility of the community to do itโ€™s own investigations and house cleaning, not allowing elected officials to hide behind the ethics commission or other elected officials.

The Alabama Ethics Commission has been a failure, in fact in many situations politicians have manipulated what was suppose to be ethical guidelines into a passport to commit ethical violations. The citizens of Alabama have little or no faith in the commission. Politicians like State Senator Tripp Pittman used his elected office for personal gain then headed off any complaints by serving on the ethics committee. Pittmanโ€™s complaint was abandoned in Attorney Generalโ€™s office of Luther Strange, ignoring a grand jury and FBI investigation.

Pittman went even further in his lust for self promotion by securing Fairhope municipal contracts, while violating ethics rules with impunity, assisted by former Mayor Tim Kant. This behavior encouraged other elected officials to push the envelope with the ethics commission often using ethics advisory opinions as a defense for their actions. Tim Kant is gone and Senator Pittmanโ€™s contracts have come to an end and he soon will disappear from political life, ending a rein of corruption.

โ€œIt has almost been a full year since Mike Hubbard was convicted on 12 counts of felony public corruption. Hubbard remains out of jail pending appeal, and there are those who are working in the shadows to make sure Hubbard is the only person ever convicted under the current Ethics laws.โ€

The ethics commission is now involved with yet another high profile complaint against Senator Luther โ€œveryโ€ Strange, who State Senator Pittman is running against, not very seriously though.
Pittman is draining the voting pool in Baldwin County for Strange.

Why do I feel like I’m experiencing deja vu?

    • Jester the fool is back to Jester Triple-Six and the Truth Teller is still ignorant of the meaning of the word “Truth”. Also, they were the first 2 to post on wonderful Wednesday August 2nd edition. Surprised? Lol

      • Truth Teller | August 3, 2017 at 9:31 am |

Do share how I am ingnorant of the word Truth? Perhaps the actual truth is just making some folks uncomfortable.

        • After reading all your post and how you follow Jester Triple-Six’s lead. That’s a question that you are going to have to answer yourself.

          • Truth Teller | August 3, 2017 at 12:56 pm |

Show me one post that I have made that is untruthful? And I don’t have to answer any question myself. You’re the one calling me “ignorant”. Perhaps the real problem is that I actually know too much….

            • Truth Teller. I am glad that you put “perhaps” in your last statement. Otherwise it would just have been another lie. You shouldn’t worry about me. As long as you connect yourself to Jester. A lot of us are going to doubt anything you post. Be your own person unless you and Jester have something going on together. If not? I would simply avoid posting with the intention that you are loyal to Jester Triple-Six. But hey, I’m certainly not the one that’s going to give anyone on this site a suggestion. More like thinking out loud. I could even be on your side?

              • Truth Teller | August 3, 2017 at 4:23 pm |

“Another” lie? Where is the first lie? Also, I don’t know how or why I am “connected” to Jester, other than replying to a few of his/her posts. Georgia Orwell makes some good points also, no one has tried to “connect” us? I don’t know who Jester is, and I don’t care who Jester is. But I do think Jester has some interesting points, and also seems to have some knowledge that is making people uncomfortable.

                • THE REAL TRUTH | August 3, 2017 at 4:46 pm |

Truth Teller. I was at the meeting where the debris contract was not awarded to Pittman and you said that it was because the Mayor didn’t inform the council about putting it out for bid. The entire council and Pittman knew it months ago. THATS THE TRUTH! First lie you told. Also you said that the Mayor didn’t want Pittman to have it at all. Well, you don’t know that’s a fact and I can assure you that both Jack Burrell and Tripp Pittman were both notified about the rebidding debris contact. If Pittman would have put in the bid at the price that he had an option for. He would have gotten it. THATS THE TRUTH!! Your 2nd lie. Then you said the Mayor cost us another $100,000 plus (ONLY IF) a major storm hit us. Jack Burrell and Trip Pittman themselves will end up costing Fairhope the extra money because they forgot to rebid it. THATS THE TRUTH. That’s lie #3. All that is written in this Post is nothing but the TRUTH!!! That’s 3 lies off JUST ONE of your many post.

                  • Wow!!!! All that about the debris stuff is really true. That’s why Jack pissed in his pants right in front of everyone at the council meeting. Pittman could have easily had the contract. Jack Burrell was mad at himself and embarrassed the shi$ out himself and out of Fairhope. Saw someone watching the video in Montgomery the other day. They were laughing at Jack and asking me if it really happened? I said it wasn’t an edited video. Too funny! NOT! Jack Burrell is an embarrassment to all of us!!

                  • Truth Teller | August 3, 2017 at 5:11 pm |

Ok, if you’re telling the REAL truth, get your facts straight. I said, quoting Jack Burrell from the same meeting, that she didn’t inform the council that they could extend the EXISTING contract for another year. So you mis-read what I ACTUALLY wrote. NO LIE there. Obviously the Mayor didn’t want Pittman to have it, why else the re-bid? “Fresh eyes??” Per the Lagniappe article Pittman stated that he received the re-bid documents in January, but was not aware that an extension of the existing one was an option, and that the re-bid docs were the only communication he had received (contradicts the mayor’s statments in the meeting) So NO LIE there. And they Mayor HAS cost us upwards of $100K IF, and ONLY IF, a SIMILAR storm hits. NO LIE. Pittman didn’t “forget” to re-bid, he chose not to, and the Council was not informed that the extension was an option. Go back and re-read my posts. Better luck next time.

                    • Truth Teller | August 3, 2017 at 5:18 pm |

Here’s my actual post. Re-read it. PLEASE. Because if we have a major storm, she just cost the city around $115,000, thatโ€™s why he was upset. Not to mention her not telling the council they still had an option for another year on the existing contract, which made this a big waste of time. Except for the fact that Jack hit the nail on the head, she wanted Pittman out. But hey, fresh eyes. Everyone gets a chance. Especially if you helped her get electedโ€ฆ.Doesnโ€™t matter HOW much it costs us CITIZENSโ€ฆ

                    • Francis Paul Ripp | August 3, 2017 at 5:30 pm |

He had no damn option that’s crap and a fact

                    • Jester Triple-Six | August 3, 2017 at 5:44 pm |

Frances, if this was not bid out, the contract would have remained in place at the same price as before for an additional year. They could have rejected the bids and the contract would have remained in place for one more year. While it is a hypothetical contract, if we did have a storm, and the cleanup as outlined in the contract will cost the city more money! Now, that is factual.

                    • If this happens or this really feels this way or what about this or what about that. Dang Truth Teller. Got to give you credit. By the way. Jack Burrell knew everything that was going on. Don’t think he was fooled or out played. If he was. It was his owned fault. Jack could have had it happen how ever he wanted to. Knew for almost 6 months in fact.

                    • Francis Paul Ripp | August 9, 2017 at 8:29 am |

                      wrong

                    • Georgia Orwell | August 3, 2017 at 8:38 pm |

From what I have read/heard about Pittman’s contract for the BP clean-up, it appears that Pittman is not reliable enough for us to depend upon him in case of a storm. The BP contract apparently included about $65,000 for removing the anchors from the Bay; Pittman cut the lines, left the anchors in our Bay, and then he pocketed that cash for himself. He knew that, with Kant in his back pocket, no one would do anything about it.
Additionally, he does not plan to be here in the ‘tractor’/whatever business for much longer so I doubt that he even wants the contract…….still, I wonder what is Jack’s dog in this ‘fight’? As a Council Member, I would assume that Burrell would want to be certain that the clean-up company for a potential disaster would be making our clean-up its number one priority. If Trip is in DC, how can he accomplish this?
I’m not trying to criticize Pittman but would love an explanation of why Burrell went off the beams about this in a public meeting.
I think that it is wonderful that it was put out for bidding again and that we have a dedicated disaster relief servicer under contract. Pittman is not complaining…..he plans to move…..why is Jack so stressed out?

                    • Truth Teller | August 3, 2017 at 9:50 pm |

Georgia- you make good points. My inference was that Jack was very frustrated with not being given all the facts prior to making what could or could not being a large expense. It may have been something else, but that is the feeling I get.

                    • FEMA would cover the cost if we had a bad hurricane. No money lost.
All have an opportunity to bid. Pittman chose not to bid.
Jack continues to show his childish colors while the other councilmen and city attorney sit there and tolerate his bully tactics.
These are not men and I’m embarrassed I voted for most of these guys. They’re never going to get it – choosing rather to believe everything that “come fly with me” feeds them.

                    • Dumbass Truth Teller. Jack knew everything that was going on way before that meeting. You keep saying that the Mayor did not inform Jack and that Jack didn’t know about the extension. You are so far from the Truth. Jack knew everything.

                    • Francis Paul Ripp | August 9, 2017 at 8:33 am |

Why the hell are we having this conversation ELECTED officials should not be bidding on any municipal or county contracts within their district. That means all elected officials. Pittman has used his office for personal gain since he was elected.

                  • Jester Triple-Six | August 3, 2017 at 5:17 pm |

You are ill informed, that is the sad part. I know what happened in this whole contract, and Truth Teller is very close to the truth than you are. It will come out as to the whole truth and the mayor supporters will see that Mayor Wilson was playing politics, again. She knows what happened and a few other know what really happened but it has not be made public, YET!

                    • Georgia Orwell | August 3, 2017 at 8:45 pm |

Fairhope ‘citizens’ don’t like or dislike Pittman/they simply don’t trust him to do what is right for Fairhope/Baldwin County. Mayor Wilson did a good job this time; it gives us hope for the future. (And, please keep in mind, Pittman could have bid; he made the choice to move on. Good for him.)

                  • Truth Teller | August 3, 2017 at 5:21 pm |

You’re just like Mr. Ripp – trying to twist the facts to fit your theories…Didn’t work for you this time…

                    • Lol. I can see the Truth Teller and Jester Triple-Six spooning with each other right now. Bunch of creeps that can’t stop posting. Posting is like cocaine to them. So “family” means mommy and daddy to you? To me it means spouse and kids. And I did in fact turn in early. It was a long day investigating mortgage fraud. But I’m hitting the ground running today! Back at it!

    • Francis Paul Ripp | August 3, 2017 at 3:37 pm |

that is over 10 years ago moot

      • Truth Teller | August 3, 2017 at 4:26 pm |

It went on until 2010, over a period of nine years. Check your math. And statute of limitations doesn’t start until the fraud is discovered by the victim, then they have 5 years to file suit/bring charges in the state of Alabama. So not really moot…But, to your point, the fact that something happens in the past means it’s not important?? Fraud isn’t fraud if it was 10 years ago (using your math).

        • Georgia Orwell | August 3, 2017 at 9:46 pm |

Old news…….yes, they were wrong, but if you are correct that it was more than 10 years ago, get over it! Move on….we need to take care of Fairhope. The way that all of this was presented before made me believe that this was an on-going fraud. I bet that admission and dues were almost nothing back then. I was invited to join a few years ago when I moved here; upon inquiry, I discovered that membership/Initiation fees had increased from $5,000 to $15,000 in the year that I moved here…..I doubt that Lakewood will explore this. Get over it and let’s get Fairhope cleaned up!

          • Truth Teller | August 3, 2017 at 9:54 pm |

It was ongoing. 2001-2010. It lasted for 9 full years.

            • Let’s give you a cookie Truth Teller. You are such a genius and spend so much time on this sight. How on earth could anyone doubt you.

          • Jester Triple-Six | August 3, 2017 at 11:17 pm |

So Georgia, if someone cheated you out of $5,000 – $20,000, you’re fine with that? If she will do this once, she will do it 100 times, just like a man that cheats on his wife, they are only sorry when they get caught. Unethical is unethical, right??? Did you not read (see the picture) the sign in this edition??? So disappointed in your Georgia!

      • Jester Triple-Six | August 3, 2017 at 5:11 pm |

This goes at the heart of her morals, her values, her rights, her ethics or lack thereof, it shows her lack of character! Just look at your picture on this edition! If she will screw the other members of the club, which many are Fairhope citizens then she will screw all of Fairhope! The only thing moot is your BS about corruption! Her lying on this membership is prima facia evidence this mayor will lie! Frances, what does the mayor have on you? What are you afraid of?

    • Truth Teller | August 4, 2017 at 3:39 pm |

“According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, Delaware, Connecticut, and New Mexico are the only three states in the country that allow non-residents to vote in municipal or town elections.”
      Interesting tid-bit.

      • My o My. Let me write that down. Wow. That helps with this posting site. Well at least it maybe True?

        • Truth Teller | August 4, 2017 at 4:17 pm |

Let me help you with the translation, since you may not be able to follow my little boy logic. In Alabama, you vote based on where you RESIDE. Not based on where you own property. Hence, renters can vote. But, on the flip side, the own of the house in a town can’t vote in that town, if they don’t also reside in that town. I see you’re still sitting at your keyboard with fingers at the ready, just waiting to respond to my every post. Do you have nothing better to do? Isn’t it almost time for your makers mark?

          • The anonymous | August 4, 2017 at 6:19 pm |

Truth Teller. No need to post anything from me today. You are claiming the asshole of the day award and I just pulled up the site. I guess there must be other people who use anonymous that report besides me. You really need to focus on your anger issues. Quit worrying about what someone post about something that you post Truth Teller. That’s the secret to not showing your ass everytime someone post negative responses to your post. I’ll have my Makers Mark. But cool it. This is my first post of the day. Concentrate on another subject after you post and don’t show you imatruity by blasting back. Move on! You might get taken a little more seriously if you do. I won’t be posting until Monday so any anonymous is not me. Have a great weekend Truth Teller. You too Jester, I’ll buy you a bottle of your Deaston one day. Help poor Truth Teller. He needs to not get so riled up. Needs to grow up a little. That’s all. Cheers!

  3. Move on. Nothing is going to happen on this apparently so find something of substance that doesn’t take 85 pages to explain.

    Mr. Ripp…

    Just a point of order.

Didn’t you sue the ethics committee?

    • Francis Paul Ripp | August 3, 2017 at 3:46 pm |

No I tried to file a complaint against them, they were not happy, went nowhere they finally dismissed my complaint against Pittman. It was DISMISSED they refused to official rule on the complaint because the FBI had it and reported it to the Alabama Attorney general, where Luther Strange, Alabama Attorney General, Pittman’s buddy failed to do his job.

  5. Grand Ole Party | August 3, 2017 at 6:15 am |

Trip Pittman is the poster child for abortion.

  6. Who comprises the Ethics’s Committee?
It appears the only power the average taxpayer has is the power of our votes.
If the ethics committee can’t find any corruption in regard to the Fairhope Airport Authority they could not find their nose on their face

    • Cynthia R. Creek | August 3, 2017 at 7:45 am |

Jack has been quieter than a field mouse. I wonder if he is sweating the heat?
Jack is guilty of being unethical.
If you cannot see that in the airport deal you have goober blinders.

      • Jack speaks through his blog, Gulf Coast News Today. What a poor excuse for a newspaper! He is apparently still seething over his Bible buddy, Trip, not bidding on the debris removal contract. If Jack can’t give the contract to Trip, I guess he won’t be getting a kickback from Trip this time. What a pair of freeloaders.

The ethics commission is made up of obsequious, d***-sucking republicans who claim to be Christians. These guys go to church and then work to cover up crimes made by people like Trip Pittman, a “Christian”. They are all in it together. Fairhope has some dumb ass folks. I see Trip signs everywhere.

    • Nancy Fleming | August 3, 2017 at 8:44 am |

Ask yourself a question: When was the last time a politician in Baldwin County went to jail?
The law enforcement arm of Alabama has been amputated.
      I blame the rethuglican party.

  7. If we can’t rely on the effectiveness of the ethics commission or their ability to actually do anything with the information they obtain, then what can the community do? It’s hard to imagine those of us who actually care about ethical behavior must just agree to be satisfied with their lack of action and their apparent disregard for solutions or punishment.

  8. Soccermomma | August 3, 2017 at 3:36 pm |

Great job by the mayor and her capable staff the other night. Impressive visioning!

Jack if you and Jester and Boone think you have a chance at re election…

Just go ahead and tempt fate you backward arse Mississippi piece of trash!!

    • Jester Triple-Six | August 3, 2017 at 5:34 pm |

Soccermomma, you are killing me here, you are being sarcastic right? It was funny how the community and economic director tried to explain her job, again. The question that needs to be answered is what has she done for this city? Nothing! I have said this once and I will say this again, Wayne was a great hire, he is strong. The mayor is big on ideas but has delivered bad press and legal claims. This is the mayor first elected office and will be her last. Most of us are shaking our heads trying to figure out wtf is she thinking.

      • Francis Paul Ripp | August 3, 2017 at 7:27 pm |

You are delusional and ill informed

        • Jester Triple-Six | August 3, 2017 at 9:12 pm |

It appears I am more informed than you Francis, you can’t seem to get any of your complaint(s) to stick thus far! Seems to me you file BS complaints, so when someone hands you a real fraud to investigate you turn away, seems you can’t handle the truth. Heard that phrase before??? Please tell us, what are you afraid of, what does the mayor have on you???

      • “I have said this once and I will say this again, “. This is one of your most glaring irritations, Jester. Once you’ve said something it’s really not necessary to repeat it. Certainly not over and over and over again. Repeating an untruth has never ever made it magically become truth. You must drive your family and friends nuts when you belabor a point into the ground.

    • The name calling from the posters on this site….

      • Oh shut up anonymous about the name calling and go to bed. I’m not speaking for the Jester. But I hope he agrees with me?

    • Agree. Council’s only mission is attacking the mayor. Absolutely no vision except keeping things the same. We don’t have individual council. We have Jack. Extremely disappointing.

  9. Ripp. Don’t let prick and prick bother you. We have put up with Jester Triple-Six for months and we can put up with his ass kisser Truth Teller just as easy. They are the ones who barks and barks and barks. Let’s them sniff themselves. Who really care what they post about. They post so much I don’t think they really believe they can even read what they are posting. It’s hilarious and I truly mean that. It’s the best place. Just got home. Think I’ll fix be a Makers Mark and sit down and read some more of these 2 stupid clowns posts. Keep it coming Jes and Tru! Give me a least 5 minutes before you post again if you can help it. I’ll think I’ll pop some popcorn and have it with my drink. Rock and roll stupid six and liar teller. Cheap entertainment at its best. Thanks Ripp for allowing these fools to go on and on and on. I gave you 10 minutes, The Ripp “Report” is not reporting the truth. So get that cheap Markers Mark out and get into the world that you live – drunkard!

      • Jester Triple-Six. I agree and thank you. You actually gave me 12 minutes so I thank you. Sorry you think my Makers Mark is cheap. I guess you got me outclassed in posting and drinking. Is Orville Redenbacher’s popcorn good enough for you? It’s pretty goood! Or is it cheap too cheap for your taste also?

        • Jester Triple-Six | August 3, 2017 at 9:22 pm |

No, really good popcorn! I bet you broke out your Old Milwaukee Beer with those fine stakes. The only person that is cheap is the mayor, she doesn’t pay her membership dues! Oppps!

          • Well Jester, we agree on two things. 1. You didn’t curse my popcorn choice and number 2. You are still a smart ass. Spelled Steaks! Not stakes! Dunkard? My dues are paid. That’s why I put up with you.

            • Jester Triple-Six | August 3, 2017 at 10:55 pm |

There you go again, I did not say Jester was a smart ass you did! My bad, it is steaks, I was sipping some Deaston on the rocks, sorry. I am glad you paid your dues, cause the Mayor did pay her’s! I still don’t know what Ripp is afraid off, do you know what the mayor has on Ripp???

              • No idea. Not my kind of beer that you dissed me with though

              • “cause the Mayor did pay herโ€™s!” “stakes”. “Oppps.” Honestly, the only thing that’s worse than you posting sober is when you post drunk.

                • Jester Triple-Six | August 4, 2017 at 10:39 am |

That is right, she paid the dues but she lied on her application for membership! Then allow a fraud to continue for years! What other frauds has she allowed or been engaged in? Maybe the Chief of Police’s invoices? Have you ever had some of the best Scotch made? Wasn’t drunk, just relaxed!

      • Jester. I forgot to thank you for the drunkard remark. Please forgive me. I have finished my one drink and now grilling some steaks. I won’t tell you that they are fillets from farm fresh in Robertsdale. I’m sure you will top my beef choice too. Is that a clue? You and Truth Teller actually keep me from having another drink. I dont want to miss the show!

        • Probably a waste of time but the last request I made seemed to curtail the crude comments. Now I am hoping this time people will drop the negative banter. Blog is getting boring with so much name calling, etc.

Trip deserved to be the low bidder on that contract. He would havecsaced us millions.

That’s okay. When he’s U.S. Senator we will beg him to rebid. Silly Fairhope.

    • They don’t even have in the top 3 in the press register. I don’t think that there is going to be a big upset in the polls this time. But you can wish I guess. Lol. Sure he would screw us out of doing a good job just like he screwed us out of $600,000 plus from the oil spill that he pocketed and at the same time had the anchor ropes cut to only leave them out there to pollute our bays and waterways. Yes, he got paid to remove them. Choose as a fake Christian to leave them out there. I guess God told him to do that as well.

Pittman will not even win Baldwin County but you can bet he will keep what is left of his campaign money. It will be a great year Baldwin County will be rid of the two most corrupt politicians, Kant and Pittman. Jack “come fly with me ” now moves up the ranks as the most corrupt.

        • April Morgan | August 4, 2017 at 5:54 am |

          So Jack is next?
          Good! Riddance.
He is such a smug jerk. Made bank off of the stinky sewer deal and the soccer fields. These goobs do nothing but take from us.
Wake up Fairhope! They are theives.
          Do the audits!

        • Last time I checked. There was over $350,000 left in Trip Pittman’s campaign account. I will be sure to hel everyone know how it’s spent. I don’t need anyone to help me do this. That’s a good chunk of change. He should just make a commercial apologizing the all of us tax payers for screwing us out of all the money he did while being in the Alabama senate and to close out the commercial. Trip Pittman should be on his knees and asking God to forgive him for all the lies he has told God. He said on record that God told him he should run for US Senate. But God didn’t tell him he wasn’t going to win. It’s like Trip Pittman who? And then you bring up the oil boom and the anchors he left in the bay and all the debri and heavy equipment contract that he has unethically gotten and did a piss poor job handling them. I keep watching these US Senate commercials and they don’t even mention Trip Pittman as even a candidate that is opposing them. Take the money and run the apology commercials. You still won’t get 10% of the total votes. But you might get some forgiveness. Not! Just buy you a boat or lot or something. You can be sure that I will know where it goes.

  11. Dr Stewart Tankersley out going member of the Alabama Ethics Commission said the Ethics Commission have one set of rules for the powerful and another set of rules for the powerless.
We all knew this. Makes you feel kind of lost with no one to rein in of our government officials.
Our State needs a political enema…pronto

Thanks John Archibald for reinforcing what we had already figured out. Now what??? No wonder Alabama has such a bad name and reputation! The only way to change this state is for people to ban together and demand change however, makes you wonder just how many people left in this state that are NOT involved in corruption. It appears that there is no such thing as ETHICS in the State of Alabama!!!

The good ole boys in Fairhope appear to have painted themselves into a corner. The cat is out the bag: Fairhope is the fastest growing city in the state. The GOB’s, who are developers, builders and bankers, are not planners.

The proposition of the citizenry turning Fairhope back over to this villainous mob is about as likely as Jack Burrell and Kevin Boone avoiding indictments.

Ripp has accomplished much but his work toward eradication of the goobers has just begun. Two council members appear to care about the people. The other three dangerously represent a working quorum.

It appears to me that Jester Triple-Six, Truth Teller and at least one of the Anonymous posters is all the same person.

    • Truth Teller | August 4, 2017 at 5:06 pm |

I can assure you I am a one and only. I don’t even know who Jester is, nor do I care.
