INVITATION

Fairhope Mayor Wilson is inviting the citizens of Fairhope, again, to participate in the next upcoming presentation of the Waterfront project.

“Wilson told citizens on June 18, ‘We are going back to the drawing board and urging those who did not take part in the three month engagement process earlier this year to please participate.’”

Fairhope reopening public participation on proposed park project

Fairhope citizens were never afforded the opportunity of public participation by the City Council when it came to the 2.6 million dollar recreation property. The council avoids any public participation claiming they were voted into office and they will make the decisions, despite any public outrage, remember Fly Creek apartments? The recreation property purchase, by three councilmen, the three B’s, changed the city’s bottom line by driving a 1.7 million dollar surplus to a 1.2 million dollar deficit. Let’s not forget the council voting themselves a raise and FULL family insurance, no other employees have FULL family insurance.

The Council approved the 500,000.00 for an engineering design for the Waterfront project and the council only pushed back for political capital prior to the Municipal elections. Those who, recently, opposed the project and started screaming, admitted, they never attended a Waterfront meeting.

WHERE HELL WERE YOU?

Like many municipal projects, many citizens do not read or watch city council meetings, I can’t blame them, or read city bulletins. The Waterfront project has been transparent from it’s inception. The City and Mayor have announced, and written, about the project, welcoming all comments.

Please attend the upcoming meeting, to be announced, and have an open mind and remember this is an approved, 6.2 million dollar grant. Politics plays a role in everything in Fairhope so keep your eyes open for political opportunist, like the council.

Fairhope Qualifications for public office, City Council and Mayor, are July 7 to July 21. This has been the worst City Council Fairhope has had in the last 25 years. The corruption and self serving Council has cost Fairhope millions. Please consider running for public office, Fairhope needs fresh faces on the council that are interesting in serving, not taking.

  1. So qualification to run for city office is July 7-21
If I run and swear to NOT be a Catalyst, not be bought by the developers, control the growth, and support Karin, do you think I would have a chance?

    • Yes! So many people are feed up with this council we are ready to vote for ANYBODY but these same 5 people. 👍

If I run, which place should I qualify for to run against?
Hey Ripp, I need YOUR feedback as well.
I would rather not run but somebody has to throw their hat in the rink to get this council OUT OF OFFICE!

Yeah, try running against the money of the developers who bankroll Catalyst. Heck, Boone,Burrell, Brown, Conyers, and Robinson have their campaign chests flush with catalyst cash.
How can a naive citizen take them on?

  3. Karen laid a turd with her bluff park proposal. She is back peddling big time to save her ass.

    • No, Karin was led over the cliff by the Council. They set her up
Karin really does care about the people in Fairhope. She has to do her job while running interference with a spiteful council. Burrell was mad because he thinks he should be mayor. Kant was supposed to bless Burrell after Kant retired. But Kant was forced by Corte to vote for the apartments and Kant lost the election in 2016 to Karin Wilson. Even Kant wanted to wait until the 2016 election to vote the apartments but Corte became impatient.
Kant’s loss messed up Burrell’s plans to become Mayor after Kant’s planned retirement in 2020. \
Now we are looking at 2020 and Burrell is no more closer to becoming mayor than he was in 2016.
The rest of the council will have to face the voters with their antics such as buying property that is overpriced, voting themselves Cadillac health insurance, allowing overbuilding, facing fines for polluting the bay, and allowing overbuilding.
By the way, the electrical system in this town is the next to go…

      • Votet You are dead on

      • Ole “Truth Hurts” spats about Karin laying a turd! Wow!!! Is that all you got little person! C,mon boy, you can do better than that. I don’t believe she is covering her ass as your stated. It is a fact that she has been transparent from day one. Go get the facts and then lay your nasty turdy mouth elsewhere punk.

  4. Tampering with perfection. Turning paradise into a parking lot.

    • Gene,
The politicians that make up the Catalyst group really do not care about turning Paradise into a parking lot. They just want to overbuild to make their money. If this new candidate for mayor is associated with Catalyst then I will not only work to gt Karin re-elected, but I will work to make sure he is defeated. Let him go back to where he came from and paddleboard there.

  5. “They took all the trees
Put them in a tree museum
And they charged all the people
A dollar and a half to see ’em
Don’t it always seem to go
That you don’t know what you’ve got
    ‘Til it’s gone
    They paved paradise
    Put up a parking lot.”
    – Joni Mitchel

While this song was once considered a “hippie” song, it is ringing true today.
This is what is happening to Baldwin County – all thanks to Catalyst and the puppet politicians they have put in office – including the Fairhope City Council. They would bulldoze the last tree on earth if it put a dollar in their pockets. Their greed is despicable.
