JOKE LLP

JOKE llp. Have you noticed that no one on the Fairhope City Council wants to address any questions about the soccer fields! In addition to all the other issues that Fairhope faces, the soccer fields have yet to become an issue. I am sure that the council will not take action to investigate anything themselves. What is needed is a citizens committee, independent of the council, to thoroughly investigate the soccer field complex from purchase to present.

BOYCOTT: The Gas Station on the New Roundabout

Fairhope has been cited for many national awards for its beauty. But, it deserves awards for more than just flowers. Placing a gas station located on a safety roundabout in a residential area on the city’s gateway, Fairhope Avenue and 13, only two blocks from three other filling stations/convenience stores, certainly will be an American oddity; and altogether deserving of an Onion American Planning award. This is so bad in terms of safety negligence that it even beats building a fire station on a dead end road (Parker); or having an open sewer line regularly discharge into Mobile Bay, along with all of Trip Pittman and Tim Kant’s expensive BP anchors.

WHO NOT TO VOTE FOR

Mid term elections are 18 months away and already we are seeing the GOB “good ole boys”, and Catalyst, placing their candidates in strategic elected positions. Campaign callouts - Lagniappe With a special election to permanently fill Jeff Sessions’ U.S. Senate seat set for later this year, Alabamians need to get acquainted with the state politicians that could be running the show come election day. Below are some of the top contenders for the office and a bit of insight on each.

Comment: Are You Surprised at all??????

FAIRNESS IS THE DEFINITION OF ANYBODY THAT WE GIVE ANY OF OUR TRUST TO!!!!!!! Let me simply explain to all of you that have actually shown an interest in and am proud to say that Fairhope Citizens DO CARE AFTER ALL!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING THESE PAST FEW MONTHS. IT WILL PAY DIVIDENDS NO MATTER IF WHAT HAPPENS, THINGS WILL GO OUR WAY. I CAN PROMISE YOU THAT IN THE FUTURE, WE WILL HAVE DIFFERENT PEOPLE MAKING THE DECISIONS.

FAIRNESS

For the 10th time citizens packed the city council chambers to discuss the Fly Creek Apartments and again their comments fell on deaf ears. Four councilmen voted for the extension of the sunset clause that allows the developer another 120 days to get a multiple occupancy site plan. WHY? Well, three of the council stated they labored over the decision and even prayed about it. You ever notice how many times religion and God come up with political decisions and how God must be responsible!

LISTENING NOT READING

The Fairhope City Council needs to do more reading of facts than listening to unsubstantiated statements by Council President Burrell. One thing needs to be made perfectly clear the issue of the complaint against Mr. Burrell and Mr. Hix is not going to disappear because Mr. Burrell dismisses it. We’re just getting started. Authority explains how board member won hangar lease bid - Lagniappe Mobile When the Fairhope Airport Authority posted an overview and timeline regarding a controversial hangar lease awarded to a board member, the link to supporting documents did not work for a few days.

GREEN ACRES ON ACID

In Baldwin County, the incentive to run for office and become a public servant is that there is no accountability and “conflict of interest” is just a pesky term. Many of our elected officials are in office for personal gain and use their positions to support like minded politicians. The last time Baldwin County saw a conviction was Mayor Steve Russo in 2006. Former Orange Beach Mayor Convicted A federal court jury in Mobile has convicted former Orange Beach Mayor Steve Russo and two others.

EXIT AND ENTER

The City of Fairhope has three days before it swears in a new Mayor and begins another chapter in its history. It is past due time to turn the page. In the recent City Sketches, the centerfold article “if they build it they will come” is a glowing tribute to Mayor Kant’s accomplishments. This city magazine has been a propaganda tool of the Mayor, paid for with tax dollars, and supported by a disingenuous editorial staff of one person.

BP CATASTROPHE/ ALABAMA DISGRACE

The BP oil spill was an accident that claimed eleven lives and adversely affected millions. BP has had to pay BILLIONS of dollars in damages spread among four states Alabama Louisiana, Texas and Florida. Three of the states used their funds to correct environmental damage done by the spill and to invest in future projects related to environmental issues. Alabama choose to rob and plunder their money on pet projects of Mayors Councils and even the Governor.

FLIES IN THE OINTMENT

There is no arguing that Alabama is in very sad shape when it comes to the state’s political structure and the lack of any leadership. Alabama’s republican and democrat’s are in an abyss, wandering aimlessly, clueless as to what it will take to bring Alabama out of not the third world but the dark ages. They have done a good job of selling the voters in the state a bill of goods that serves them the best.
